• Recognising the Irish Security Sector
While thousands in the public sector continue to rightfully stage protests and demand fair treatment, compensation for their collective efforts and hard work throughout the pandemic, and much deserved recognition, thousands in the private Security (Static Security Officers, Patrol Drivers, Camera Operators, Retail Officers, Door Guards) remain vastly under- appreciated and unrecognised. At the height of the pandemic employers were quick to send out official letters explaining how all of their security officers and employees were in fact essential front line staff. Yet aside from making sure workers reported for duty unimpeded by government sanctioned lock downs, security officers have not been allotted the respect and treatment befitting of a front line worker, despite having continued to work uninterrupted through the Covid pandemic. Those of us in the security sector have not had a raise in nearly three years. We continue to work erratic hours, long shifts, and for low wages. Dealing directly with the public, guarding businesses, protecting staff, enduring abuse and lawlessness, monitoring premises and patrolling properties, ceasingly since March (2020). Just as health care workers, Garda, and retail workers have diligently worked. The difference being, whereas other sectors have been lauded with praise and talks of bonuses, there is absolutely no mention of security staff. In the spirit of fairness, equality and gratitude, we would like to be officially recognised for our efforts and contributions in one of the most diverse and inclusive sectors in the country.

  • Leave Sonesta Green Alone.
This is another attempt of forcing something that nobody asked for and is not required. There is currently a similar set up of equipment and resurfacing in Malahide Demesne, Robswall and Seabury. - The Village Green, New Street, and the attempts of the 'sky walk' and paving Bridgefield are examples of the previous rail-roading that has been attempted or achieved in the past. It is not a requirement to have every single green area laden with rubber mats and metal equipment. When there are so many projects being forced up on us without any discussion, it is time to point out how important a discussion is. Please help stop the attempt of this going ahead by asking for it to be halted until there is more discussion.

  • Make Marino more child friendly and safe for our children.
We had a child run out the gate of the green after their dog straight into an oncoming car - luckily this time the driver was driving slowly within the 30km limit and was able to stop safely.

  • Stop data centres being built.
Because this affects EVERYBODY in Ireland, it is not something that happens to other people - it will impact all facets of business, enterprise, services and the private lives of individuals. Apart from the imminent and real danger to sick people living at home who require a regular, uninterrupted electricity supply and indeed to hospitals and care homes, just reflect on the effects of a power outage on electrical appliances and internet access. It will be too late to protest when the centres have been allowed to be built, most of which are absorbing energy without allowing any facility to use renewable energy supplies. It isn't just electricity supplies that will be affected, an inordinate amount of water is also required to keep these centre running efficiently. It is also important to note that these centres DO NOT employ many people. Many countries in Europe have put a moratorium on the building of these energy grabbing entities because they realise the devastating effect they have on national energy supplies.

  • Social Media Should Stop Targeting Legitimate CBD Companies
It is well documented that CBD is a natural compound derived from the cannabis plant. CBD product does not get you high, and no significant adverse effects have been reported. CBD is transforming the lives of people all around the world. It does not make one high, but rather one that aids individuals in dealing with pain & other difficulties. These are far safer alternative to pain medication! CBD oil consumers are aware of the distinction between CBD produced from marijuana and CBD generated from INDUSTRIAL HEMP. Many patients have switched from prescription medicines (such as epilepsy, anxiety, and depression treatments) to CBD, discovering that it provides many of the same advantages as medical marijuana, that too without the psychotropic side effects. Despite this, many social media including Facebook and government target CBD companies in the United States and the United Kingdom for no apparent reason. Social media platforms unpublish pages for "promoting sale of prescription products." The vast majority of CBD products are not regarded pharmaceutical medicines, with the exception of a few FDA-approved CBD-containing treatments. Despite numerous requests, most of the pages are banned. While the same social media website profits from pharmaceutical industry advertisements, but the natural product and far less dangerous alternates are hidden from public. Let’s fight to keep hemp derived CBD products lawful to buy, sell & possess. 1000's of small business that sell CBD products derived from hemp rely on this. Sign the petition to let social media websites know that you have noticed that you do not like the pharmaceutical lobby to rule the social media website, and you are concerned about the small enterprises who are getting affected by such actions. When you sign this petition, you will be helping to keep CBD products derived from Hemp, you will be supporting local business and you will be supporting the freedom of choice.

  • STOP AN ZONÁIL FUINNIMH GAOITHE I GCOIS FHARRAIGE/NO TO FURTHER WIND ENERGY ZONING IN COIS FHARRAIGE
Achainí: Iarrann muid oraibh cúnamh a thabhairt dúinn scriosadh thírdhreach álainn agus ghnáthóga nádúrtha Chois Fharraige a stopadh. Tá sé molta i nDréacht-Phlean Forbartha Chomhairle Contae na Gaillimhe 2022-2028 go mbeadh go leor den talamh sa gceantar ‘Feiliúnach i bPrionsabal’ nó go mbeifí ‘Sásta é a Phlé’ i dtaobh tuirbíní fuinnimh gaoithe in-athnuaite a fhorbairt. Tá daonra mór agus tithe cónaithe go leor gar de chuid mhaith den cheantar atá molta don zónáil seo. Tá roinnt mhaith tuirbíní gaoithe sa gceantar cheana fhéin atá ag goilliúnt ar shaol an phobail, ar a mbaile agus ar a sláinte. Má chuirtear na ceantair atá molta san áireamh sa leagan deiridh de Phlean Forbartha Chomhairle Contae na Gaillimhe 2022-2028, ciallóidh sé go dtógfar go leor tuirbíní gaoithe eile sa gceantar seo agus go gcuirfear as do níos mó daoine agus don chaoi a gcaitheann siad a saol. Chiallódh sé freisin go scriosfaí go leor gnáthóga nádúrtha agus go ngoillfeadh sé ar na héanacha, na hainmhithe fiáine agus ar fhiadhúlra eile sa gceantar, chomh maith le tírdhreach álainn an cheantair a scriosadh go brách na breithe. Iarrann muid ort an achainí seo a shíniú agus cúnamh a thabhairt dúinn stop a chur leis an scriosadh a dhéanfar ar ár ngnáthóga, an chaoi a gcuirfear as dár dtithe, dár saol agus dár sláinte agus an dochar a dhéanfar do thírdhreach álainn Chois Fharraige nach mbeifear in ann a dhul siar air, má ghlactar leis na moltaí sa dréacht-phlean seo. This petition is in response to the Draft Galway County Development Plan 2022-2028 pursuant to which it is proposed to zone additional lands in Cois Fharraige as suitable for renewable wind energy development. Petition: Please help stop the destruction of our beautiful landscape and natural habitats in Cois Fharraige. In the Draft Galway County Development Plan 2022-2028, Galway County Council has designated a lot of our bogland areas as ‘Acceptable in Principle’ and ‘Open to Consideration’ for the development of renewable wind energy turbines. A lot of the proposed zoned areas are densely populated and in severe close proximity to people’s homes. At present, there is already a significant number of wind turbines located in the area which are affecting people’s lives, their homes and their well being. If the proposed areas as drafted are included in the final version of the Galway County Development Plan 2022-2028, this will result in a massive increase in the further development and number of wind turbines located in the area and further homes and lives will be disrupted. It would also result in the destruction of many natural habitats and endangerment of species such as birds, animals and other wildlife inhabiting the area, in addition to destroying the beautiful natural landscape forever more. Please sign the petition below and help prevent the massacre to our habitats, the disruption that will be caused to our homes, lives and well being and the irreversible destruction to our beautiful Cois Fharraige landscape if this proposal goes ahead.
