Petition to Donedeal.ie to Stop Sale of Animals Permanently.

We won! After feeling the pressure from our campaign, DoneDeal removed the unsafe dog selling section of their site.

I am petitioning Donedeal.ie to ask them to remove from their site the sale of animals in particular Dogs/Puppies as the high prices they are fetching is a contributary factor to the recent occurance of theft of these animals.

Why is this important?

It is my opinion that by preventing the advertising of animals for sale on Donedeal.ie this will help to distrupt the sale of stolen animals which has now become a nationwide problem. These animals are fetching large sums of money and this is encouraging theft of peoples pets. There is a demand and there is a criminal element prepared to exploit that demand. The petition is also aimed at raising awareness of the fact that there are shelters full of animals across the island of Ireland and there is simply no need to pay such prices for a pet.

How it will be delivered

It is my intention to download the petition as a PDF when there is a reasonable amount of signatures and email the document to Donedeal.ie and political representatives as well as media outlets in an attempt to put pressure on Donedeal.ie to take down the facility to sell animals on its site. And if it fails at first attempt I will continue until the petition succeeds in its aim.

I have received an email today 7th August 2020,that done deal have suspended their dogs section of their site and are reviewing it because of several reasons including the high price of dogs. This is welcome, but do not let it deter you from signing and sharing, let's keep the pressure ON because they intend to return the dogs section in the coming weeks when the spotlight is off them. Thanks to all who have signed this and similar petitions. Let's keep it going until its for definite done. 👍👍👍

Donedeal.ie maintain that the fact that they only allow dogs for sale with a microchip number is enough to protect the animals welfare. This was made law this year, there must be microchip number displayed to buy or sell a dog online in Ireland. However the onus is on the buyer to check if this number is correct or even if the dog has a microchip at all. Another problem is most dogs that are being stolen in Ireland arnt microchipped in the first place, so theives in reality could steal an unchipped dog (checking with a scanner that are easily bought), and then simply get the dog microchipped themselves and sell it on for a large profit. The prices are supposedly limited but I've seen adverts for dogs going for as high as €1,950 on their site. The best solution?? Take down the facility on Donedeal.ie to sell animals.
