• Stop Tenant Evictions during Covid-19 Pandemic Restrictions
Evictions from Rental properties are allowed again as of Friday 23 April. Threshold and opposition parties have warned that this can bring many more families into homelessness, while greedy landlords continue to profit. This while we are still fully in the pandemic with most lockdown measures and mandatory hotel quarantines still in place. In the current conditions, it is absolutely unacceptable that entire families can end up homeless. In fact this is never acceptable, but much less now. Hence urgent action now is required. We want to call the Government to extend the eviction ban in Ireland until all of the covid-19 restrictions are fully lifted. This will allow all residents of Ireland to have a safe place to quarantine and live their life, at least until they are fully empowered to go back to work in an Ireland that has succesfully gone through the Covid-19 Pandemic.

  • Save Kinsale's Iconic Landmark
The Pipers, and particularly their historic caravan, have been valued and iconic members of Kinsale's community for generations. They are now being assaulted by a small faction developers, and a town council which appears to have little concern for protecting Kinsale's rich history, culture, and community. We are calling on the Kinsale Town Council to immediately return Pipers beautiful caravan to its historic location, and to cease all eviction attempts in the future.

  • Longford Greyhound Stadium
Longford Greyhound Stadium is a 7.1 acre site situated in a prime location close to the town centre of Longford currently zoned as a Sporting & Recreational area. Any change to its status to allow for developments such as housing or retail would need to be agreed by the local authority. Longford County Council need to engage with the wider community regarding the potential use of this site. We are calling on the executive to open a public consultation with local residents regarding the long-term vision for this area. This development will have a huge impact on our town - our opinions and concerns matter! #OurTownOurFuture

  • CETA Free Zone: Wicklow Says No To Corporate Courts
Investor Court System (ICS) is a dispute settlement tribunal where foreign investors and corporations can take a case against Ireland for 'perceived' breaches in CETA’s investment protection standards. It allows investors to go straight to these special tribunals and sideline domestic courts and those of the European Union. Once CETA is ratified, investor court decisions cannot be challenged by either the State or the EU - this is the equivalent of handing corporations a blank cheque! Local communities and businesses across Ireland are fighting back. Together we are showing government parties and politicians that this form of corporate takeover is going to cost them dearly in the next election. And we need our local politicians to stand with us by supporting this.
