• ASD class needed urgently
Six children started in the ASD class together in St Clares primary school and are currently in 3rd class but there is no ASD class in the feeder post primary school in the same town. Where will these 6 children go to school when they finish primary school? Would it not make sense to have an ASD class in the feeder school

  • More childcare places in Tralee
I manage a community-based , not-for-profit childcare service in Tralee. We receive innumerable phonecalls and emails from exasperated parents and families unable to find childcare in the town and surrounding areas. Childcare services have reached capacity, there are no spaces at all for under 3s in the town, this is a massive systemic issue. Our service originally operated in Blennerville village and after years of repeated attempts to secure suitable land, our goal remains to build another facility back in Blennerville to facilitate more childcare spaces. This would free up much needed spaces in our current premises in Caherslee, Tralee. Please sign this petition to show your support. We need to build public awareness regarding the issues at play here, new planning approaches regarding childcare and sustained investment in childcare to facilitate working parents and build sustainable communities. Purpose-built childcare facilities should be provided for in major residential development. Please feel free to highlight this issue with your local politicians.

Many of the vulnerable residents in Aperee Living Callan are in the latter years of there lives. A move at this stage will render them more vulnerable. Their physical and mental health will suffer a great upheaval. They will be separated from the surroundings they are familiar with and the people they are used to living with.

  • Save Grand Canal Dock Liveaboard Community
The Grand Canal Dock residential houseboat community faces a raise in mooring fees of 2000% and is at immediate risk of displacement by Waterways Ireland. Single people, families, young people and pensioners make up this vibrant houseboat community which has been part of Grand Canal Dock, Pearse Street and Ringsend for over a decade. The increase in fees outlined in Waterways Ireland’s proposed bye-laws is unjustified, unaffordable and puts all households at immediate risk of displacement. We are asking you, as Minister of State for Nature, Heritage and Electoral Reform, not to sign off on the proposed canal bye-laws on the 26th February. The raise in fees for this liveaboard community can only be seen as the gentrification of Grand Canal Dock Marina. Waterways Ireland is a state body and service provider funded by the taxpayer. Their actions are comparable to a private developer not a custodian of the Irish Waterways.   The heritage and cultural legacy of the waterways lives on in the boating community. This raise in fees in Grand Canal Dock will set a precedence for unreasonable and unjustified fees for boaters across the country and will empty our rivers and canals, destroying this legacy and ultimately displacing communities. Minister Noonan, we are calling on you to reject this revision of the bye-laws until the rights of boating communities are protected, families are not displaced and a fair fees structure is in place.   Yours sincerely,
