Mohammad, Roobeena and their family have been renting their current house for 6 years, and have lived in the wider North Dublin area for 12. Their children are 3, 4, and 7 years old and have grown up in the local area. Mohammad cannot work anymore following a road traffic accident in 2018. In June 2021, the family received an eviction notice from their new landlord and their estate agents wanting to sell the house. Due to the difficulty of finding housing at the moment, and in particular for families and disabled people, Mohammad joined CATU looking for support. Through the backing of neighbours and CATU supporters, Mohammad and Roobeena are asking for another 6 months from the letting agent and landlord in their current accommodation to allow them to find a long-term alternative. Many puppies involved in the illegal trade are malnourished and diseased, with an estimated one-third dying in the hands of their new families, and breeding dogs are being kept in squalid conditions, in cages, overbred and abused. Hundreds of puppies are for sale in the Belfast area, where there is not one official licensed breeder. The opening of a dog park in this community would give people a place to safely exercise and play with their dogs. It would provide a space to allow dogs off-lead which is essential for dogs to be socialised, safe and learn friendly play. At the moment there is a lack of spaces for dog owners to be able to safely let their dogs run off lead in public parks. Many of us living in the inner city do not have access to large private gardens to give our dogs a run around and we depend on our beautiful parks. However currently letting a dog off the lead in nearly all DCC parks including Fairview Park is a breach of DCC bye-laws, which can even result in a fine or prosecution! Dogs that are well socialised and exercised are healthier, happier, and less aggressive in behaviour. They are less likely to bark or be destructive or aggressive if they are able to expend pent-up energy during regular play or exercise off the lead. Well socialised and stimulated dogs tend to be much better behaved, happier dogs and dog owners, and this would mean much less rehoming of dogs and dogs surrendered to shelters. A dog park in this area similar to that in St. Annes Park is would be a great step in solving this issue and make the park a happier, safer place for everyone! Many Pakistani haven't seen their families for many years and have planned their annual leave to go to Pakistan around the holiday period. This unfair and unjustified travel ban means they won't be able to see their families.

Fracking and drilling pollutes our water, and damages our health. It is expected that the petroleum licencing policy that Minister Lyons will propose to the Executive could open the door for the approval of outstanding drilling and fracking applications in Fermanagh, and in the five council areas of Belfast, Antrim and Newtownabbey, Mid Ulster, Armagh City Banbridge and Craigavon, Lisburn and Castlereagh. There is no time for legislation to be passed on fracking and drilling in this Assembly term. It must be stopped at the Executive.

We need to safeguard the domestic Irish musicians, bands and artists within the music industry through a difficult time during Covid. This is an open call to the Irish Government, the BAI & Irish Radio Broadcasters to support domestic artists by allocating more airtime to them on the radio. If Irish Radio continues exporting the majority of royalties to International artists during such a harrowing time in our history - it will equate to our domestic artists suffering even more hardship, some having to give up music careers altogether. We ask Minister Martin, those in power within the Irish government, the BAI (Broadcasting Authority of Ireland) and those who work in Radio Broadcasting to consider allocating more airplay and heavy rotation to our domestic artists to safeguard their careers in such a financial crisis for them, with gigs being cancelled and their music and arts scene being one of the worst affected industries during covid.

Schools in Ireland are not safe for children or staff. The only safety measures in primary schools are hand sanitiser and open the window. The children and staff are absolutely freezing, but the windows must stay open to try to ventilate the overcrowded classrooms. We need HEPA filtration. Government must put safety measures into schools to keep everyone safe from airborne COVID. Gold-mining is one of the most destructive industries in the world. It pollutes our water and land with chemicals, endangering the health of people and destroying our beautiful countryside. Almost 20 tonnes of waste is produced to make one gold wedding ring, and the majority of gold produced is either for jewellery or sits in the vaults of banks.

1. Reducing the catchment area of the school makes it very unlikely that it will ever be increased again. 2. The school is a crucial part of local community life. 3. This school has served these local townlands for generations and in the hardest times, people worked hard to keep it open for all. 4. This change has a detrimental impact to the local community. No consideration has been given to this fact - no consultation or engagement with the broader community...the same community who fought to keep the school open when it was on the brink of closure throughout the years. 5. Parents no longer have a realistic option for co-ed schooling for their children once the townlands in which they live have been excluded from the admissions policy of Knocknasna NS. Israel has for decades used cultural whitewashing to present an image of itself to the world as a just and free society when in fact nothing could be further from the truth. Israel is a racist apartheid state as declared by human rights organisations the world over including the Israeli human rights organisation, B'Tselem. Israel occupies and brutally oppresses millions of Palestinians in the West Bank and Gaza whilst continuing to expand its illegal settlement enterprise. Israel's treatment of people in Gaza is akin to genocide and Gaza is in a constant state of humanitarian crisis. It's with cultural events like Miss Universe that Israel masks it's war crimes and human right violations against the Palestinian people by presenting itself to the world as a normal society. But it's not a normal society! Israel is an apartheid state and we must make every effort to make sure the world learns the truth about Israel.

We are failing the women and children in the community. Currently we have a population of 218,018 and no domestic violence refuge. The shortage of emergency accommodation for people affected by domestic violence is an issue that is getting progressively worse. Domestic violence spikes significantly during the festive season which is exacerbated by the pressures brought about by Covid-19 and the housing crisis. The provision for domestic violence in our area is comprehensively under developed. There are 144 refuge spaces available nationwide yet Dublin alone needs 143 refuge spaces, and Ireland needs almost 500. There are only 31 spaces, in 4 refuges, to service the entire Dublin area. 68% of the calls Women's Aid made to refuges are being turned away due to there being no room left. The nearest refuge for Rathdown is in Bray, this means that many people may have to travel for over an hour on public transport to be turned away. This huge lack of essential support services results in: • Unmet requests for refuge everyday; • Accommodation problems and homelessness; • People trapped in abusive relationships; • Increasing likelihood of people returning to violent and abusive homes; • Fear of reporting the abuse due to the lack of emergency accommodation available; The government is failing women and children. The most vulnerable people in our society are being failed on every level and government inaction continues to silence them. This is a national issue - there are currently 9 counties without a refuge.
