  • Newport Road Public Footpath & Lighting
Please help our 40-YEAR campaign to get a short footpath laid between two estates Grangewood and Rich Hill Woods on a very dangerous road, which has only become busier with trucks and fast moving traffic. Local resident JJ Ryan has been campaigning to get a footpath built for years. “This is an extremely dangerous stretch of road. There’s no lighting and no footpath between the two estates. “Pedestrians, the elderly, and schoolchildren getting on and off the local bus or cycling to school have to scramble up a very steep bank to get out of the way of traffic.” Mr Ryan, whose son was struck by the wing mirror of a passing car last year and suffered a broken arm, said that “there have been scores of near misses and accidents involving cars and pedestrians. It’s only a matter of time before someone is killed. Do we really have to wait for that to happen before something is done?” If you are a local resident, or would like to support local residents, please consider signing our petition to have a footpath built to ensure the safety of the residents. We are stronger together, and together we can ensure the safety of everyone in our community. This affects more than 200 local residents at least. Please reach out to anyone you know who can support us.

  • Dublin 7 for Palestine: Petition to Boycott Israeli Products
Concerned residents urgently call for local businesses to boycott Israeli products until Israel complies with International Law and Universal Principles of Human Rights and its apartheid system is dismantled. Since* October 7th, Israel has: Continuously bombarded the densely populated Gaza Strip, killing over 27,000 Palestinians, of which over 10,000 are children. Engaged in the collective punishment of Gaza’s population through cutting off food, water, electricity, and fuel. This is a war crime, as is wilfully blocking humanitarian relief from reaching civilians in need. Used white phosphorus, a chemical that ignites when in contact with oxygen, causing horrific and severe burns, on densely populated neighbourhoods. White phosphorus can burn down to the bone and burns to 10% of the human body are often fatal. Displaced over 2 million Gazans from their homes and have turned the majority of buildings to rubble. The International Court of Justice has found that a plausible case that Israel is committing genocide in Gaza. However, Israel is continuing its offensive, with support from the US. It is essential that we act and increase the international pressure in the form of a boycott to stop the genocide, and to push for Palestinian liberation and the dismantling of Israeli Apartheid once a ceasefire is called. Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) is a peaceful, effective Palestinian-led movement for freedom, justice and equality. It asserts that Palestinians are entitled to the same rights as the rest of humanity. It has proven to be the most effective, non-violent approach to demand these rights. More information can be found on their website: https://bdsmovement.net/ *Updated 2 February 2024

  • Conor Pass for the Irish public
Generations of people have found inspiration in the breaktaking views and enjoyed the scenic walks across the dramatic landscape. People all over Ireland have a deep emotional connection with the iconic Conor Pass and many of us were shocked to discover that it had been in private ownership all this time. Now, you have a chance to do something extraordinary and leave behind a legacy that will enrich and benefit Ireland for generations to come. The Irish government has said that they are interested in buying but would not be able to do so for such a high cost. Despite lots of public support, procurement rules means that the state cannot offer above the market value for a piece of land. The risk is that an international investor will come along, buy the land, and remove public access. The Irish have a very deep and complicated relationship with land and the public loss of such a special area would be devastating. In order to ensure that the Conor Pass can be enjoyed by everybody, for generations to come, we are asking you to enter negotiations with the state to find a way that the ownership of the Conor Pass passes to the Irish public. We are people from all across Ireland, all ages, all walks of life, all religions and none who have come together to make this request of you. Not many people have the opportunity to leave behind such an incredible gift and we are asking you to do everything in your power to make sure that the people of Ireland become the custodians of the Conor Pass. Thank you

  • Expel the Israeli Ambassador from Ireland NOW!
Israel is committing war crimes and genocide against the people of Palestine. Thousands of children are dying before our eyes. Families are being wiped out. Lives are being destroyed. Expelling the Israeli Ambassador would communicate a strong message that we, the people of Ireland, do NOT accept genocide and mass destruction. It would give courage to other nations around the world to stand in solidarity and do the same. It would send the message that - no matter how small the nation, our voices will be heard. We can not afford to be quiet today. We need to raise our voices for those who cannot and take a stand. Sign the petition to Expel the Israeli Ambassador NOW!

  • Open Letter to Joe Biden: Ceasefire in Gaza Now!
You visited Ireland just six months ago to mark peace on our island, the contribution to it of the US government and your own much loved Irish heritage. We know well the imperfections of the peace in Northern Ireland, and how far we still have to go. But the days of constant killings, and unbearable suffering are over here. At times it seemed impossible, but it was done. Now we are watching in horror as the leader of the Israeli government, Benjamin Netanyahu launches a genocidal war on the people of Gaza, who are without food, water, fuel or electricity, having already lived in an apartheid state for decades. As President of the United States of America, you have an unique role to play. We ask you to do all in your power to call for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and work towards a sustained peace in the region grounded in justice, freedom and equality for all.
