  • Patientrevolution.ie - Campaign for the delivery of a one tier health system: Sláintecare
This is a patient led campaign for radical change to the structure, resourcing and delivery of healthcare in Ireland. We are all patients, this effects everyone of us in this country. Our health system is broken, it is no longer holding itself together. Hospital waiting lists have almost hit 1million. There are 700 (1/5) consultant vacancies unfilled in Ireland. There are many reasons for this situation: the current contract for consultants, procedures being cancelled, investment required for additional bed capacity across hospitals. GP patient lists are full. 30% of GPs (over 1000 GPs) will retire in the next 2 to 3 years. There is no strategy for replacing them. Tens of thousands of citizens already do not have access to a GP. This is putting strain on emergency departments, out of hours services and most importantly not giving people the level of care & continuity of care they require. Emergency departments & hospitals are writing to GPs to advise they do not have capacity to take referrals. These patients bounce back to GPs to manage their illness while they wait. Patients with private healthcare have some access to private out of hours and ED clinics which provide limited services if your insurance covers what you need. Ultimately as more GPs retire these private services will also become strained. The band aids of OOHS , ED & private clinics are not a replacement for Primary care services. They do not provide the continuity of care that patients are best served by. We are all affected by this healthcare crisis. We need to come together as one voice to support an all party initiative: Sláintecare. This will transform healthcare in Ireland and benefit generations to come. I urge you to support, share, discuss, engage with this campaign. Thank you, Patientrevolution.ie

  • Trinity College Dublin: Boycott Israeli Apartheid!
We call on TCD to boycott and divest from all companies which operate in historic Palestine or which are complicit in Israeli apartheid. This includes companies which manufacture arms or security technologies used by the state of Israel to carry out ethnic cleansing and implement apartheid against the Palestinian people. TCD currently has links with 15 Israeli organizations, including academic institutions such as the Weizmann Institute of Science, which openly collaborates with the war-industry, including many companies involved in armaments, such Israel Aerospace Industries and Elbit Systems. Furthermore, College solicits services from Tel Aviv University, which develops war technology, trains lawyers to defend war crimes and sends Pro-Israeli delegations to foreign universities. Finally, College has links with Technion - Israel Institute of Technology, which is involved with arms research and technology, cooperates with the Israeli military and openly collaborates with the Elbit corporation. This makes every member of the college community complicit in Israel’s crimes and oppression of Palestine. We will not stand for this. We call on TCD to cease all collaboration with Israeli universities in accordance with the guidelines laid down by PACBI, the Palestinian Academic and Cultural Boycott of Israel. These guidelines call for a boycott of Israeli academic institutions, rather than individual academics, as these institutions have played a key role in the ongoing colonization of Palestine. We demand the immediate cessation of research cooperation with Israeli universities that is in any way connected with the security and military industries.

  • Support the Integrated Education Bill
Only 7.5% of schools here are integrated schools - bringing together children from all backgrounds - Catholic, Protestant and other. All integrated schools here have been fought for and demanded by parents. But this bill could really change things. It would ensure that every new school opened in Northern Ireland from now on is integrated. And it would strengthen the Department for Education's legal duty, requiring the Minister to be held to account for their performance in promoting integrated education. But some parties want to water the bill down. If we flood the consultation with responses, we can make sure that doesn't happen. Photo: Belfast Live

  • Call to cancel the 3rd season of The Rotunda
This petition is to call for the cancelation of this seasons TV show that is a truly disappointing, disrespectful and misleading reflection on life in a maternity hospital during this pandemic. Filming took place across 11 months (Nov 20 – Sept 21) when maternity restrictions were at their worst. Despite this The Rotunda have defended filming by saying there were minimal numbers of crew on site at all times. We have heard many many accounts from people in antenatal clinic waiting rooms seeing producers trying to recruit expectant mothers for this show. The show featured all mothers with their birthing partners where as the reality is vastly different. An official statement from RTE states that “this documentary was to authentically tell the stories or mother and their partners”. This show didn't once show these amazing women alone, alone in their scans, alone waiting in physical and emotional pain in A & E, alone receiving heart-breaking news, alone with the limited time they can spend with their babies in NICU, alone meeting their babies for the first time in NICU, alone in their rooms trying to stand up out of bed to comfort, feed , care for their babies after recovering from major surgery. Alone waiting for that door to open to answer their bell from the under resourced care team doing their best to answer every call to provide the essential support which partners could be providing. Alone waiting patiently for the porter to take them down to NICU to see their baby. Alone trying to finalise their beautiful new baby’s name, alone answering questions and taking in complex information on their baby’s status, test results and feeding plan. This purpose of this petition is not to take away from all of the beautiful babies born over the last 18 months or their even more amazing mothers. Nor does this petition intend to take away from the enormous credit due to the dedicated hard working staff of the Rotunda who patients and their families are eternality grateful for.

  • Support Stamp 3 Visa Holders to Access Employment in Ireland
What is Stamp 3 visa? Stamp 3 visa is a type of residence permit that states people cannot work or engage in business, trade, or profession. This type of stamp is issued to spouses and children of general work employment permit holders as well as spouses of Non-EEA PhD students in Ireland. Why is this important to us? As skilled immigrants in Ireland we would like to be treated with equality to access employment and contribute to the economy of Ireland. This can only be achieved by removing the obstacles that we have to go through to be considered for employment in Ireland. What can you do to help? We request for your support to petition the Irish government to allow spouses & children of general work employment permit holders and spouses of PhD students to access employment without the requirement of applying for a separate work permit. • Ghana Consulate Ireland: Condemn Homophobic, Transphobic Bill
Because Human Rights are for ALL. This Bill gives fuel to homophobia and transphobia and misguided ideas about Ghanaian history and culture. It: Puts non-consensual and consensual acts on the same footing; Criminalises transgender people; Specifically allows for the promotion and spread of anti-lgbti+ propaganda. Will pressure families into genital mutilation of their intersex children; Gives lighter sentences to those who attack lgbti+ people than to those believed to be involved in a consensual homosexual act. Pressures conformity to gender stereotypes for fear of criminal prosecution. Bans and criminalises "Allyship". Bans supporting lgbti+ charities. Many people rely on these for food, moral support and safety. Pushing people underground leaves them even more vulnerable and less likely to receive help when a victim of crime. Is based on misplaced fears of "lgbti+ agenda", of "Western influence", of "turning people gay", "undermining the family" and misinformed ideas of "culture" and "values". People of all gender, sex and orientation minorities have always existed and been part of the fabric of every country and ethnicity. Anti-gay laws were in fact introduced by the colonisers: something which the UK now regrets and realises was wrong. Innocent people would be criminalised for being who they are. Many non-Lgbti+ people would be criminalised too for gender nonconformity, supporting family and friends or simply based on false accusation. Therefore it is dangerous to all in Ghana and warrants condemnation even by homophobic and transphobic people and those hesitant about gay rights. This Bill has been described as among the most homophobic ever written. The rest of Africa and much of the world are watching and many will be influenced by whichever way this Bill goes. Lives are in danger. It must be stopped urgently!

  • Unlock access to education for migrant youth
Our migrant young people have so much to contribute to Irish life, but some find that even though they are legally resident, they are unable to access SUSI grants because they don't have the 'right' type of immigration permission to qualify under SUSI's nationality criteria. In practice this means that young migrants face exorbitant international fees when they apply for college or university unless they can secure one of a small number of scholarship places. This effectively locks some migrant young people out of accessing higher education and following their career dreams.

  • Protection for People Fleeing Afghanistan
People in Afghanistan have been subjected to decades of occupation and violence. The unfolding crisis puts many people in danger and in need of rapid and co-ordinated protection. We call for supports for human rights activists, journalists, women (including those working in education), members of minority groups, Afghan people who supported and worked with NGOs on behalf of the Irish people and the Irish government Afghanistan, and all in need of protection, as a matter of urgency. People in Ireland refuse to look away from the refugee and humanitarian catastrophe unfolding in Afghanistan. We welcome the announcement on the 16th August that the Irish government will resettle up to 150 people, but we can and must do more. We call on Minister Coveney, Minister Humphreys, and the Taoiseach, Micheál Martin to: - Urge and work with the international community to create safe routes to safe havens for those fleeing from Afghanistan, including to Ireland. - Provide as many additional places as possible for people and help them evacuate swiftly and safely from Afghanistan to seek International Protection in Ireland. - Issue emergency Temporary Travel documents to vulnerable Afghans who don’t have or cannot access passports, to facilitate their evacuation. - Halt and reverse any deportations or forced returns of people from Ireland to Afghanistan. - Grant refugee status to those currently in Direct Provision after fleeing persecution in Afghanistan, immediately. - Facilitate family reunification as a matter of urgency. - Ensure that student and protection visas are issued or renewed swiftly. We seek these urgent actions to provide protection for vulnerable people seeking safety from Afghanistan in addition to the ongoing calls to provide safe passage and protection for families and individuals currently stranded in appalling conditions in Greece and elsewhere. Solidarity is our strength.

  • Set up a Special Committee to legislate for Voluntary Assisted Dying for Ireland.
Terminally ill and people with incurable progressive conditions in Ireland who want a Medically Assisted Death have no option but to face intolerable, prolonged suffering. Others curtail their lives earlier than they would like so they are able to travel to Switzerland for an assisted death. Anyone who helps someone risks a prison sentence of up to 14 years. Vicky Phelan and many like Vicky want to be able to die here in Ireland, at a time of their choosing surrounded by loved ones. They alone must be allowed to choose when they have had enough. Knowing legislation with a framework of robust safeguards is in place will mean an Assisted Death is safely and legally available. Legislation for this compassionate end of life option gives immeasurable peace of mind to dying people who want this and improves the quality of what life remains to them. All we ask is that everyone respects personal autonomy and the specific wishes of a dying person, someone who wants this option and supports this campaign. #TogetherforChoice Follow us on: https://twitter.com/EndOfLifeIE https://www.facebook.com/EndOfLifeIreland https://www.endoflifeireland.ie/

  • Stand with Fiona O'Leary against unjust charges.
On Tuesday 20th July Fiona O’leary was arrested by the Gardai at Clonakility Garda station, West Cork. She is facing potential charges of Harassment, Incitement to Hatred and Criminal Trespass. The Gardai chose to arrest Fiona under the charge of Harassment in order to secure the power to detain her for up to six hours. Fiona is a mother to five children. She is a carer, three of her children are Autistic and Fiona is Autistic herself. The gardai were aware of this, yet they treated her inhumanely. In soaring temperatures of 30 degrees she was kept in an interrogation room with no ventilation for five hours, Surly this is in breach of Covid 19 regulation. She was interrogated beyond what could be considered reasonable, accused of hating religion and asked for proof of Holocaust denial. She was forced to sit without moving, surrounded by cameras. Finally they forced her to give her DNA without reason and to which she did not consent. Then she was warned to not get into any more trouble as they did not want to be arresting her again. It was a traumatic experience after which she is suffering PTSD and is finding it very hard to cope with. Fiona and her solicitor have made complaints to GSOC, The Policing Authority and to the Garda Commissioner. We believe there are sinister elements and conflict of interest involved in this case. Fiona is and always has been open and public with all her work in relation to the SSPX Resistance. This level of interrogation and threat of criminal charges was and is unnecessary and punitive. The proposed charges arise due to complaints made by members of the SSPX cult who have a base in West Cork. In August 2020 Fiona broke the story “SSPX Resistance Cult operating out of a farmhouse in West Cork” which she published through her WordPress Blog. The story was subsequently picked up by Local and National newspapers such as The Southern Star, Sunday World. Link to Fionas article: https://fionaolearyblog.wordpress.com/2020/08/14/sspx-resistance-cult-operating-out-of-a-farmhouse-in-west-cork/?fbclid=IwAR07QekNAv1-wRilpExOIfTgSPAVdhJ92GuueyMKtNg43wVRpeOyGVdIfe8 Southern Star: https://www.southernstar.ie/news/covid-denying-catholic-resistance-group-has-a-base-in-reenascreena-4210322?fbclid=IwAR0vuoNziCFuz-sKmEqXJ2KI8y_RdInSyVM26RSnBJdxpM624eRt2M8S3tQ Sunday World: https://www.sundayworld.com/news/irish-news/covid-is-creation-of-the-jews-bishops-sick-claim-39566519.html?fbclid=IwAR2pBvq0drVkq4AK_20xpEBDzStENqlfcyn094v4XMhlcfV8FPpaNDxz7qQ https://www.sundayworld.com/crime/irish-crime/gardai-carrying-out-enquiries-into-anti-semitic-video-recorded-by-convicted-holocaust-denier-bishop-richard-williamson-39629424.html?fbclid=IwAR0vuoNziCFuz-sKmEqXJ2KI8y_RdInSyVM26RSnBJdxpM624eRt2M8S3tQ A quote from the Sunday World article dated October 15th 2020 gives a good insight into why Fiona was so concerned and why the story of the presence of the SSPX Resistance needed to be told to protect the community. “In a statement to SundayWorld.com, gardai have now confirmed the video is the subject of garda enquiries. A spokesperson said: “gardaí are aware of the matter and enquiries are ongoing.” During the half-hour recording, posted on the internet in March, Richardson, a founding member of 'SSPX Resistance', sickeningly claimed: Jewish people are manipulating stock market crashes in a bid to start World War III; Jewish people are 'master-servants' of the devil; People at the top of the Jewish race are in direct contact with Satan and 'he may even appear to them'; Covid-19 "is possibly the creation of the Jews" and "that it was designed with this purpose to bring society to a grinding halt"; And, finally, Jewish people and the Freemasons are "enemies of God" who "hate life, they hate man, they hate God and they are true children of Satan." Williamson's Cork talk targeting the Jewish community is not the first occasion on which he has engaged in anti-semiticism.” These are the words spoken at a gathering in Cork by the leader of the SSPX Resistance to his congregation, yet it is Fiona O’Leary and not Williamson who is facing possible criminal charges by the Gardai. The SSPX Resistance based in West Cork also broke lock-down laws, organising and attending an "exorcism" at the Dail. They refuse to wear masks or follow any of the public health guidelines to protect the community. https://www.irishexaminer.com/news/arid-40231067.html Even though it was reported to the gardai, they took no action. There has been substantial coverage in the press of Fionas arrest: The Irish Times: https://www.irishtimes.com/news/crime-and-law/woman-to-be-arrested-over-allegations-from-ultra-conservative-religious-group-1.4622651 https://www.irishtimes.com/news/crime-and-law/cork-activist-questioned-over-allegations-of-harassment-by-christian-fundamentalists-1.4629871 The Irish Examiner: https://www.irishexaminer.com/news/arid-40344509.html Every thing Fiona works toward is for the protection of the people and the public who are targeted by far right hatemongers, Covid deniers and charlatans who prey on the vulnerable. I ask you all to support this petition and campaign to see Fiona free from this unjust and unwarranted attempt to silence her good work.
