People are dying every day from covid, Many are living with long-term effects from contracting covid, People are committing suicide at epidemic proportions, Everyone’s mental health is deteriorating, The demand for mental health services has skyrocketed to the point where the services may collapse at any moment (baring in mind that it was born on its last legs), People are suffering because there simply isn’t enough resources in place to help them, Students (primary, 2nd & 3rd level) are expected to produce the same results as years previous even though their learning environments have changed so drastically, Elderly people are experiencing loneliness like never before, The circumstances for people living in direct provision have only gotten more dire as the pandemic has continued, Many small businesses have been forced to close down permanently, Businesses that have survived this long are one more lockdown away from shutting down, The airports are open letting 100s of people into the country everyday without mandatory hotel quarantines, Vaccines are being rolled out at a painfully slow rate, The government is failing to acquire enough vaccines at a quick enough rate, Nurses, doctors and all other healthcare staff have been treated so poorly throughout the last year e.g. student nursing only receiving payment for working during a pandemic after months of protests This is a (not exhaustive) list of the things the Irish government has either directly or indirectly done to negativity impact Ireland and it’s people, in relation to the pandemic.

Natural justice will not be served if the Commission of Investigation into Mother and Baby homes is allowed to close down with so many unanswered questions, not least about its own functioning and some of the conclusions in its report. A legal enquiry that publishes conclusions and testimonies that are disputed by those who gave them and then destroys evidence cannot provide closure. There are so many unanswered questions about the manner in which this commission was run and the way it reached its conclusions that it must be held to account. This commission must not be added to the list of inquiries that have added insult to the injuries of survivors and helped mask the truth. Theatening that an extension will delay compensation for survivors is not germane. Survivors want the truth. We ALL want the truth.

A person shall not cause or allow any Restricted Breed, as defined in the Control of Dogs Regulations 1998 (as amended) belonging to him/her, or in his/her charge to enter or remain in the park unless such dog is kept securely muzzled and led on a sufficiently strong leash or chain not exceeding two metres in length by a competent person over 16 years of age." We are school children. We want our schools opened now for ALL Children! Paint rocks as symbol of light and rainbow of hope. Leave as many trails as you can, at schools and everywhere! Let us speak up! We miss our friends. We miss our daily lives, our world. We are stuck ...at home. We are waiting…..in our bedrooms, in our kitchens, waiting….stuck. You locked us out of our lives. Don’t leave some of us behind, when our siblings return to their lives, when our parents carry on in their lives, when the whole world carries on but without us…fix a solution for us too! For ALL kids. Give us back our lives! Some of us are smaller, more alone. Sometimes we are sad. Covid Home-schooling is not realistic for lots of us. Education is not reaching us. Our parents are busy, not school teachers. Open our schools now, and safely! Chinese proverb: “Learning is like rowing upstream: not to advance is to drop backwards” Malcom X: “ Education is the passport to the future” Allan Bloom: “Education is the movement from darkness to light” Article 42 of the Constitution states that “ the State shall provide for free primary education …..and, when the public good requires it, provide other educational facilities or institutions! yay!

The priority is, as it must be, the resumption of proper schooling. The current system of remote learning is not healthy for children and we must get children back into their classrooms immediately. The Covid crisis is hard for everyone, but it is especially difficult for children who have been denied the ability to mix and play with their peers. The winter weather and dark evenings, not to mention the easy attractions of electronic devices, has made it incredibly difficult to have children come anywhere close to meeting their recommended 60 minutes of activity per day. The resumption of school, combined with a managed and safe return to collective outdoor exercise, will be transformative for children’s physical and mental wellbeing. Precedent The previous lockdown made provision for non-contact outdoor exercise in pods of 15 for children of school-going age and we appeal to you to include that in the new Living with Covid Plan Support As coaches and parents, we have all witnessed how the current lockdown has impacted on youngsters leaving them withdrawn and isolated from their peers and with little or no interest in exercising. Longford Greyhound Stadium is a 7.1 acre site situated in a prime location close to the town centre of Longford currently zoned as a Sporting & Recreational area. Any change to its status to allow for developments such as housing or retail would need to be agreed by the local authority. Longford County Council need to engage with the wider community regarding the potential use of this site. We are calling on the executive to open a public consultation with local residents regarding the long-term vision for this area. This development will have a huge impact on our town - our opinions and concerns matter! #OurTownOurFuture

Matt Williams, the rugby correspondent is ill fit for his position as a rugby pundit. Matt Williams is contracted by Virgin media where he commentates alongside fellow panelists on International rugby. It is notable that Williams is always the weakest of the panelists. His inability to dissect the game analytically is quite evident. However, this is not the worst aspect of Williams punditry. Williams seemingly constant negativity he holds of the Irish rugby team is borderline Insulting. His almost incessant rants about the Irish rugby team are both repetitive and wearing. He dwells on what they could and should have done all of the time, rather than perhaps pointing out the good play that got them into the position to make a given mistake in the first place. His criticism is evidently strong. Strong criticism has to be merited though. And by that, I mean the Individual who is heavily criticising has to have had been in the position of those who he/she is criticising.Thus, Williams criticism is not merited, as he himself has not played rugby at International level. Whilst, I will acknowledge that Williams has had a playing career himself, it was not at International level and as a result, he is unable to relate to or is distant from the pressures that any International player faces when they put on their Country's Jersey. I will also acknowledge that Williams also has experience as a coach which some reputable sides, most notably being Leinster, Ulster and Scotland. However, this experience as a rugby coach along side his career at club rugby level is still not enough for any Individual to express views of almost complete toxicity towards any International side. I really hope that Virgin Media or whomever is broadcasting Six Nations rugby in the future reads what I've written! , and takes into account, the few, of many reasons why Williams is not a suitable candidate, to hold position as a rugby correspondent for Six Nations rugby matches going forward. The fast-tracking of a bypass of Kilrane Village is crucial to the safety of the children of the area as Kilrane National School sits directly on the N25. Haulier traffic in the port increased 500% in the first week of Brexit. The increase in traffic since Brexit we believe also creates many current problems and potential future problems in the development of Kilrane Village and for the quality of life of the residents of the village and surrounding area. Since the Covid-19 pandemic began, across the globe, children and young people have made huge sacrifices with their education. Article 28 of UN convention on the rights of the child states in relation to Education, the child has the right to education; the State has a duty to make primary education compulsory and free to all; to take measures to develop different forms of secondary education and to make this accessible to all children. School discipline should be administered in a manner consistent with the child’s human dignity. School closures in 2020 from mid March to end of June and now from January until April, May or perhaps longer could mean Irish children and young people missing between 8 and possibly 9 months of their education. That is 1 years academic term that all children and young people have sacrificed during this pandemic. They have missed out on important rights of passage, transitions to primary, secondary and third level. Early childhood education states the years 0 to 6 in education are the building blocks of education and these early experiences form a crucial foundation of their education life into the future We are all aware of the emergency of Covid-19 but now we want to talk about recovery afterwards, recovery of full education experience for our children and young people. We want a fund to be accessible to all children and young people to support the education experiences they have lost. Its not just education rights but recreational rights that children have sacrificed. Article 31 of UN rights of child states in relation to leisure, recreation and cultural activities that the child has the right to rest and to engage in leisure, play and recreational activities and to participate in cultural and artistic activities. These too they have sacrificed. We are calling on the Justice minister and the Education minister to do what is a fundamental right of children and young people in Ireland and immediately give back the full education experience that has been taken from them.

Courts in Ecuador found that Chevron-Texaco had deliberately dumped 16 billion gallons of cancer-causing toxic oil waste into the rainforest, causing a cancer epidemic that has killed thousands and has decimated five indigenous nations who are teetering on the brink of extinction. They inflicted death and devastation on communities of people and wildlife that no fair-minded Irish person would ever tolerate. “The oil companies came to these pristine forests, backed by our own government. They took what they wanted and wiped-out cultures, completely disregarded the Indigenous people, killed animals and ruined sacred places. In the end, the people couldn’t do anything about it because they couldn’t speak the language of the people destroying their lives! In parallel with their human-rights abuses in the Ecuadorian Amazon, Texaco were cynically running a ‘Children’s Art Competition’ here in Ireland while at the same time they were destroying children’s lives in the Amazon. The legacy of that destruction continues to this day. There can be no place for fossil fuel companies like Texaco in Children’s Art or Sports in Ireland.
