• CETA Free Zone: Dublin Says No To Corporate Courts
Investor Court System (ICS) is a dispute settlement tribunal where foreign investors and corporations can take a case against Ireland for 'perceived' breaches in CETA’s investment protection standards. It allows investors to go straight to these special tribunals and sideline domestic courts and those of the European Union. Once CETA is ratified, investor court decisions cannot be challenged by either the State or the EU - this is the equivalent of handing corporations a blank cheque! Local communities and businesses across Ireland are fighting back. Together we are showing government parties and politicians that this form of corporate takeover is going to cost them dearly in the next election. And we need our local politicians to stand with us by supporting this. • Save Miller Cake Studio
Miller Cake Studio is a small family business which started as a home bakery 10 years ago. The Studio is now a very successful business in Marlay Park, Rathfarnham. We currently have 10 employees, something we are very proud of. We sell freshly baked cakes along with tea and coffee. Our establishment is part of the Council's effort to make Marlay Park Courtyard a vibrant location. We have a very loyal customer base which we are incredibly grateful for. We have been operating in the Courtyard the past 3 years. We have received support, permission and help from Council representatives to set up our business in the Park. A manager's order to allow us to move our business to a bigger unit in the Courtyard where we can sell hot beverages and bake our cakes as well was given and signed off by the Senior Parks Superintendent personally. The superintendent has now decided to take this away and close us down. The Council incorrectly granted exclusive right for selling hot beverages to another establishment in the park with complete disregard for our already established business. Now we are instructed to stop selling hot beverages immediately or the Council will terminate our contract and we will have to close with immediate effect. We need your support to pressure the Council to find another solution to the problem that they caused themselves instead of ruining a well established business and having 10 people lose their jobs in the middle of a world wide pandemic. DLR County Council does not care about the impact our closure may have on other businesses operating in the Courtyard. Please sign our petition today and help us in this fight

  • Save Our Youth Centre!!
This is important as the town of killorglin is a small town and the KDYS is the only youth service and space available in the area for the youths of the town and surrounding areas... we need this space now more than ever as COVID 19 has hit and social isolation is a huge concern with mental health issues rising in both adults and youths!! If this service is removed from the community the youth of the town will suffer emmendlessly.... please help save the future!

  • RE-OPEN COCO MARKETS
Government guidelines regarding Covid Level 5 and Essential Retail Outlets clearly state "markets that, wholly or principally, offer food for sale" can open for business. However, Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County Council has announced the closure of Dun Laoghaire People's Market and Marlay Park Market. This action will deprive traders of much needed income in what is traditionally their busiest time of the year. Furthermore, it will deprive consumers who look to these markets as their location of choice for the weekly purchase of organic & artisan produce.
