Speed Ramps in KilmanaghKilmanagh village in Co. Kilkenny is a busy pass through village for commuters in the surrounding areas and for local traffic. In recent years traffic has become more busy and unfortunately the speed seems to be increasing with it. Currently there is no traffic controls in the village, apart from a pedestrian crossing with lights for the school on the Kilmanagh to Callan Regional Road The main stretch of road, from the former Brennan's Pub to Abhainn Ri has become a runway for vehicles of all sorts, totally disregarding the safety of the people who walk the roads and the children who live in the village. The speed limit of 50km is rarely kept to by drivers and it creates an unsafe atmosphere through the village. The installation of speed ramps is essential to restrict the speed through the village. I am aware that the council are reluctant to install speed ramps in the village due to the possible noise they may cause. This noise is a small price that I'm sure we, as a community are all willing to accept for the safety of everyone in our village. Also it is nothing to the noise of speeding traffic and heavy machinery that is present in our village on a daily basis. The road that is requested for the speed ramps is the L1009, a road classified as a local road, not a regional road between Abhainn Ri and just past the formerly known Brennan's Pub.54 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Emma Nolan

Switch the Lucan water supply back to Ballymore-EustaceSince March 2018, Irish Water has increased the supply of Hard water from the Leixlip Water Treatment Plant to areas of South Dublin (Lucan, Palmerstown and North Clondalkin). Previously these areas were mainly supplied Soft water from Ballymore Eustace WTP. Since October 2019 IW have issued with two boil water notices in as many weeks due to contamination of the supply. Player Wills Community CampaignFor over a decade now the Player Wills’ site on the South Circular Road has laid vacant. The site has been passed into the hands of NAMA with Grant Thornton appointed as receivers. This site has the potential to have develop over 500 affordable homes with appropriate community facilities, in order to develop a sustainable community for decades to come. The Minister for Housing should intervene to stop this land being transferred to a private equity firm and develop the site as cost rental and affordable housing to ensure that the housing needs of our citizens is met.730 of 800 SignaturesCreated by Rebecca moynihan

Emergency Call for Universal Basic IncomeWe call on the Government of Ireland to pay a permanent, unconditional Universal Basic Income (UBI) of at least €203 per week to all legal residents between 18 and state pension age, starting as quickly as possible. This will replace jobseekers' benefits – currently €203 per week – and the UBI amount in other benefits, such as the Covid-19 Pandemic Unemployment Payment and enhanced Illness Benefit. This is one essential part of the measures urgently needed to help our society and economy cope with and eventually recover from the crisis.1,808 of 2,000 SignaturesCreated by Basic Income Ireland

Free Car-Parking for Healthcare WorkersDuring the Covid 19 Pandemic - Dublin City Council thankfully agreed to allow Healthcare workers to park on the public streets for free once a photocopy of their Hospital ID was placed in the windscreen window. This provided a little bit of relief and solace to those of us who worked tirelessly to support our country. As of the 1st August 2020, we will no longer be granted that relief. Prior to this car parking was a constant nightmare, with over €120/month being spent on car parking fees and often hours wasted driving in circles to find a space.843 of 1,000 SignaturesCreated by Jen Sheehan

BioDiversity Impact of light Pollution- Submission to Tipperary County CouncilTo: Tipperary County Council We are writing to you as the Cloughjordan Dark Sky Group, based in Cloughjordan village. We are aware that new street lighting is soon to be installed on Main Street Cloughjordan to replace the old sodium lights there. We would ask that you install the best lighting option for everyone in the village. Sometimes, the lighting installed in public spaces is much stronger and brighter than needed, which leads to light pollution and problems for human and ecological health. We have outlined some of those issues later in this letter. We would therefore ask that your lighting engineers in the Council consider the following two basic requests for the lighting due to being installed on Main Street: Install lighting which reduces glare and light pollution by installing lighting of a warm (amber instead of white) colour temperature with an upper limit of (no more than) 2700 kelvin. Shield or hood the lighting to be installed so that the light is targeted onto the ground where it is needed, thereby reducing glare and so improving visual perception, thereby improving safety. We believe the above requests are reasonable, achievable and will still meet the community expectations around safety, security and visibility. Most importantly, they will also relieve the community of the ongoing glare related problems on Main Street where the existing, too bright street lighting shines directly into their houses and bedrooms. We are including a community petition signed by local people in support of the above lighting requests. We would also like to request a meeting with the Council or to be granted the opportunity to open a discussion on further possibilities, such as: Installing motion sensor lights at night, where the lights will turn on when there is a movement, thus reducing overall energy consumption and adding more safety to all. Despite our name, we are not against the concept of street lighting! In fact, lighting in itself is not the issue: rather, if the lighting is installed without proper shielding and appropriate brightness levels, this can cause the problems that are now being seen among human populations and the ecosystem. We greatly appreciate your time and attention and look forward to your response on this matter. Yours Faithfully, The Cloughjordan DarkSky Group15 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Darksky CloughJordan
