Stop Return of UCC Race DayWe are calling on the incoming UCCSU not to bring back Race Day. Greyhound racing is already not allowed within the UCCSU constitution and we believe Horse Racing and Race Day should similarly not be supported by our Student Representatives. We think UCC would also not be in support of the return.217 of 300 SignaturesCreated by Vegan Society

Let Every Child Watch: Shift the Toy Show to 7 PM!We are asking RTÉ to move the start time of the Late Late Toy Show to 7 PM, making it more accessible for children across Ireland. The Toy Show is a cherished tradition that brings families together, sparking joy and wonder in kids of all ages. However, the current 9:30 PM start time means many young viewers struggle to stay awake or miss out entirely. By moving the show to 7 PM: • Kids can enjoy the full magic of the show without compromising their bedtime. • Families can watch together, creating lasting memories. • The Toy Show’s spirit of inclusivity will shine brighter by ensuring no child is left out. We’re not asking for a major overhaul—just a small adjustment that would have a big impact on families across the country.557 of 600 SignaturesCreated by Bernie Murtagh

Petition to Major Retailers in Ireland: Provide Halal Meat and Poultry OptionsWe, the undersigned members of the Irish community, including the growing Muslim population, are writing to respectfully request the inclusion of affordable halal-certified meat and poultry products in the offerings of major retail stores across Ireland. As a significant part of Ireland’s diverse population, the Muslim community faces increasing challenges in accessing halal-certified products at reasonable prices. Currently, halal meat and poultry are primarily available in specialty stores, where prices are often higher due to limited supply and specialized distribution. This has placed a financial strain on families and individuals who rely on these products for their dietary needs. Why This Matters: • Inclusivity: Ensuring halal options in major retailers reflects Ireland’s commitment to diversity and inclusivity. • Affordability: Wider availability of halal-certified products can help reduce costs by fostering healthy market competition. • Convenience: Offering halal options in mainstream stores provides greater accessibility for Muslim families, reducing the need to travel long distances to specialty stores. Our Request: 1. Partner with certified halal suppliers to introduce a range of halal meat and poultry options in your stores. 2. Ensure that these products are priced competitively to make them accessible to all. 3. Promote these halal offerings to raise awareness and serve the needs of a diverse customer base. We believe that by addressing this issue, retailers can not only support the well-being of the Muslim community but also demonstrate their commitment to serving Ireland’s multicultural society. We, the undersigned, urge you to take this step toward fostering inclusion and meeting the needs of all your customers. Thank you for your attention to this matter. Sign the petition today to show your support for affordable and accessible halal options in Ireland’s major retail stores. Stop Dumping Books in Bins – Defend Intellectual Freedom in IrelandStop Dumping Books in Bins – Defend Intellectual Freedom in Ireland To everyone who believes in the value of a book: We, the undersigned, affirm that the greatness of any society is measured by its respect for the written word. Ideas should be debated, not buried. Destroying a book is silencing a voice. Civilization begins where the dumping of books ends. This is not only a moral principle — it is a constitutional one. Article 40.6.1 of the Constitution of Ireland protects the right of every citizen to express and communicate their convictions and opinions. This protection extends to printed materials, academic texts, and cultural heritage. The arbitrary disposal of books in waste bins contradicts this constitutional spirit and undermines Ireland’s commitment to intellectual freedom. On 15 February 2026, hundreds of books — including classical works of jurisprudence, history, and Quranic exegesis — were discarded in waste bins at the Islamic Cultural Centre of Ireland. This act was justified by labelling these texts as “extremist,” a claim that has been publicly refuted by scholars, librarians, and community members who recovered these valuable academic works. Such labelling without due process constitutes a form of intellectual censorship that has no place in a democratic society. The ICCI Library: A Cultural and Academic Asset According to publicly available information, the ICCI library historically contained: • Nearly 10,000 books in Arabic • Over 4,000 books in English • Additional collections in French, German, Albanian, Urdu, and other languages For decades, it served as a multilingual research space and a quiet environment for learning. The destruction or disposal of such a collection represents a loss of shared intellectual heritage. We, therefore, call for the following: 1. Immediate Protection of the Remaining Library The management of the Islamic Cultural Centre of Ireland must safeguard all remaining books and prevent further disposal. 2. Preservation Through Transfer, Not Destruction If the Centre no longer wishes to maintain the library, the books must be transferred to: • Academic institutions • Researchers • Public libraries • Community archives We categorically reject the destruction or recycling of these materials. 3. Commitment to Intellectual Freedom Ireland must remain a country where knowledge is preserved, not discarded; where ideas are examined, not erased; and where cultural heritage is treated with dignity. Join us in defending intellectual freedom and protecting Ireland’s literary and cultural heritage. #DublinBookForum #StopBookDumping #IntellectualFreedomIreland5 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Adam Mohamed

Protect Cherrywood Families from Ticknick Fire SmokeIn August 2025, residents of Cherrywood and surrounding areas were exposed to two weeks of daily smoke from smouldering gorse fires at Ticknick. Families — including children and older residents — have been forced to breathe unsafe levels with PM2.5 and VOC levels far above WHO safe limits, while current monitoring stations located kilometers away do not reflect the true conditions we are forced to live in. Even with windows sealed, smoke particles seeped indoors, leaving children and families exposed to dangerous air for over two weeks. Public authorities failed to acknowledge the public health risk or take accountability for developing a long-term solution. Instead, responsibility was pushed back and forth, while residents endured continuous exposure. We now call for urgent lessons to be learned — and concrete actions to ensure families in Cherrywood and across Ireland are never left unprotected again.400 of 500 SignaturesCreated by Angelika Korelc
