  • Introduce a Deposit Refund System for Drinks Containers
Introduce a deposit refund system in Ireland to help tackle our worsening plastic waste crisis. It would work like this. A small charge (eg. 10c) would be added to the price of drinks in cans, glass & plastic bottles. When the container is returned to the shop the 10c is returned to the consumer.

  • Remove school profiling from the leaving certificate calculated grading system
We demand that the department of education remove the classist school profiling from the leaving certificate calculated grading system, which would further entrench privilege into our education system. With the hardship that students have faced in the past few months, students deserve more opportunities, not obstacles.

  • Stop Return of UCC Race Day
We are calling on the incoming UCCSU not to bring back Race Day. Greyhound racing is already not allowed within the UCCSU constitution and we believe Horse Racing and Race Day should similarly not be supported by our Student Representatives. We think UCC would also not be in support of the return.

  • Provide SLT and OT services to the children of St Cecilia's school
Following recent communication from the CDNT, we have learned that the current Speech and Language Therapist (SLT) assigned to St. Cecilia's School is beginning maternity leave.  After discussions with the CDNT manager, we were informed that the HSE has no plans to provide SLT support to the children of St. Cecilia's until March/April 2025, when another SLT is expected to return. As parents, we find it wholly unacceptable and unethical for the HSE to leave children with severe to profound complex needs without essential SLT services for up to six months. We demand that the HSE immediately provide an SLT to deliver the necessary level of support to our children, and to work collaboratively with teachers and parents/guardians. Additionally, we urgently request the assignment of an Occupational Therapist (OT) to support the children at St. Cecilia's. It is imperative that both the SLT and OT assigned offer a complete, dedicated service rather than a nominal presence. If the HSE cannot meet this critical need immediately, we call on them to allocate the necessary funding directly to St. Cecilia's School so that an SLT and OT can be sourced independently. This has already been facilitated by the HSE for St.Killians special needs school in Co. Cork, and we insist on the same consideration.  This matter requires immediate attention and action—our children’s development and well-being cannot be put on hold.

  • Give Donabate back a suitable library
The community in Donabate deserve a library space which is as good as or better than the one that has been taken from us. Not in 10 years after a planning and building process, but now.

  • Speed signs - Semple Woods
More often than not, people are driving too fast in our estate including visitors to the estate and delivery drivers. We need to protect our children better and it starts with us, the residents. Please start by taking better care when driving and SLOW DOWN in the estate. We also need to introduce speed signs for "Children at Play" and 10km max driving speeds throughout the estate. Please sign the petition to Glenveagh for speed signs across the estate. It is only a matter of time before a child is hurt and there's a genuine concern about the speed at which people are driving in the estate. Children are not responsible enough to understand they should slow down on bikes and scooters. The drivers are the people responsible for childrens safety. We need to take a stand as a neighbourhood and for the children of Semple Woods

  • Give us water that is safe to drink
The water in many East Cork communities is unsafe to drink. We have been on an boil notice since last October and have to buy bottled water or try to come up with alternative solutions. Our communities need safe water to drink while we wait for the problem to be fixed.
