  • Unfair treatment of would be pensioner
Rescind 2012 pension changes brought in by Joan Bruton and government which means women who worked summer jobs when they were 16 and paid stamps, then took years out to look after children are being penalised by having their contributions divided by 50 which means most will be down by €36.00 per week. Yet someone who comes into the country , or someone who starts working at 55 years or 56 can work 10 years and get full pension. very unfair.

  • Put limits on the purchase of land by the mega wealthy
The case for a Land Observatory in Ireland. Irish farmland is being bought up by billionaire investors who are able to pay treble the current market value. Farmers who need to expand to remain viable, or new entrant farmers are completely shut out of the bidding when these individuals or syndicates wish to add to their vast land portfolios.  The result is a growing monopoly by these new absentee landlords which spells the death knell of the family farm. Inflated land values have serious implications for Capital Acquisition tax going forward (gift and inheritance tax). Land purchase by state sponsored foreign vulture funds includes the buying up of thousands of hectares for forestry. There are growing concerns about the environmental sustainability of land use by corporate agri-industrial landowners. All this is happening now with no sign of slowing down. While there is no law against massive land acquisition, it is unconstitutional: Article 45 paragraph (v) of our 1937 Constitution holds that:  “The State shall, in particular, direct its policy towards securing....that there may be established on the land in economic security as many families as in the circumstances shall be practicable." But the State is currently doing nothing to honour this commitment.

  • Support Recovery in the Midlands: Detox Beds at Midlands Regional Hospital Portlaoise
Minister for Health, Jennifer Carroll MacNeill TD, people across the Midlands are being put at risk because Midlands Regional Hospital Portlaoise has no dedicated detoxification beds. When someone seeks help for serious alcohol or drug dependence, they are often left in overcrowded emergency departments or sent home to unsafe situations. Families are watching loved ones struggle without access to proper medical care at the moment it is most needed. We are calling on you to establish three medically supervised detox beds with seven-day access and clear pathways into addiction and recovery services. This is a small, practical step that could save lives, support families, and give people in the Midlands a real chance at recovery.
