Abbeyknockmoy Road Safety

The residents of Abbeyknockmoy request improved safety for all road users.
Why is this important?
We, the residents of Abbeyknockmoy request Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII) & Galway County Council to install improved and effective measures that focus on pedestrian & cyclist safety, traffic calming and speed reduction through our village.
Abbeyknockmoy is a vibrant rural community with active residents who are keen to see improvements. The village gets it's name from a cistercian Abbey, which is a site of historic interest.
Through the village, we have three housing estates, numerous stand-alone properties, a Petrol station & Spar Store, two pubs, a funeral home, Medical centre, local businesses and shop fronts including a Pharmacy, Electrical supplies, Car mechanics, Take-away, Hairdressers, Credit union, and Builder's supplies.
Added to these are a Soccer pitch, Hurling pitch, Playground, Community centre, Church, Graveyard, "Old Abbey" Monastery, Creche, Preschool, National school, and a charming picnic area beside the Abbert river.
Over the past 18 years, the village has seen a significant amount of property development, including new business premises and civic spaces. However, the local road infrastructure needs updating to meet the demands of a busy and vibrant village, and for residents to be able to access all amenities safely.
We need to see improvements at various areas through the village that increase connectivity, allowing the numerous young families, pedestrians, cyclists and road-users to have safe and direct access on footpaths to our local amenities, and have a better quality of life for everyone using this section of the N63.
