Why is this important?
Sports should not discriminate on gender!
I oppose the playing of the cricket games with Afghanistan in Tyrone and Belfast, Nothern Ireland, in August 2026.
Unlike the women’s team that is not recognised or permitted by the Taliban and is therefore a team in exile, the men’s team is permitted by the Taliban.
It is not acceptable for any regime like the Taliban to use cricket and sport to normalise their image. It is also the case that no men’s team of a country should be recognised in any sport if they refuse to organise a women’s team. Sport should not discriminate on the basis of gender in that way.
