We, the undersigned, are writing to bring attention to a critical issue concerning the education and well-being of deafblind children in our society. Deafblindness is a unique disability that affects individuals in profound ways, particularly in communication, adaptation of teaching methods, and the need for specialized materials. We urge you, as representatives of the Ministry of Education, to take immediate action to ensure inclusive education for deafblind children and guarantee their equal access to education, early intervention services, and tailored support.

Rule out raising tuition fees for students in Northern Ireland.

Increasing the mode options for commuting to school offers multiple benefits for students. Implementing a bike-to-school scheme similar to the notable bike-to-work scheme is a potential solution.  Biking generates physical and mental health benefits among young people. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), regular physical activity such as biking can improve students' physical health, reduce symptoms of depression, and improve cognitive functions. Moreover, the bike-to-school scheme can reduce carbon emissions and contribute to environmental sustainability, fulfilling duties outlined by the Paris Agreement. 

Sligo County Council and group schemes, please prohibit the use of glyphosate-based weedkillers and other toxic herbicides in all public places including public footpaths, road verges,play areas, council estates and parkland/amenity areas.

Introduce both "Speak-up" boxes and online access for students to anonymously report when there is a threat to a classmate eg if they know another student is being bullied if another student is talking about self-harm or Suicide.

We are calling on the Irish government to allocate increased funding to the mental health sector. Specifically, we urge the government to support us in addressing the alarming increase in deaths through suicide by providing more staff in the mental health sector, by making it easier for people to access dual and aftercare services and by supporting both individuals and volunteer groups who are currently lending their time and energy to preventing further loss within their local communities through suicide.

Offer a full refund of the student contribution charge for the 2020/21 academic year, in acknowledgement of the unique difficulties faced by students due to the ongoing COVID-19 Pandemic

To enable the required social distancing during the current crisis Limerick Cycling Campaign and the Irish Pedestrian Network now call on Limerick Council to urgently implement the following: 1. Reallocate road space to people walking and cycling – widen footpaths to 3 metres and introduce a circular segregated cycle route in and around the city encompassing either Shannon Bridge or Sarsfield Bridge using cones, bollards, planters and signage. 2. Automate pedestrian signal crossings during daylight hours and increase pedestrian crossing times across the city. 3. Temporarily lower speed limits to 30 kph in urban and suburban areas. 4. Support a weekly Cyclovia event – where certain streets are closed off each Saturday to facilitate exercise and play whilst observing physical distancing.

Now, more than ever, we need free universal access to period products in N Ireland.
