  • Growing Clongriffin
We, the residents of Clongriffin (including Beltree, Parkedge and all other areas of Clongriffin) are very pleased with the fact that more and more people are settling in the new houses and apartments in Clongriffin. However, we feel that the area is missing some of the crucial elements which are necessary in modern societies. As Country starts reopening after Covid19 crisis, now may be a perfect moment to discuss this matter. We believe that the area is missing schools of all levels as those in neighbouring areas do not have enough capacity and require commuting. We are asking for schools so our children can stay in the local area without a need to travel. The building near Train Station which was supposed to be a shopping mall needs to be opened and its status resolved. Right now, it's standing as an abandoned place without any purpose. It probably has space not only for a big shop but also potentially for a Community centre, Cinema, coffee shops, clothing and sport shops, grocery, etc. We are asking to allow opening of new business in the area such as coffee/grocery shops or any other small business ; our understanding is that they can't open due to high rental prices and we are asking those rental prices to be reduced or finding other methods of attraction. We are asking for local Garda Station to improve security. We are asking for additional Bus stop at Marrsfield Avenue near Vesta. We are asking for enriching our parks and common open areas with more sports and kids facilities such as playgrounds, bicycle lanes, small soccer fields, basketball courts, gyms, etc. We need more trash bins on our streets and common areas. Existing bins in Father Collins Park should be better positioned and more dog waste bins installed. We are ready to participate and help in any further discussions about this matter and we appreciate your understanding and help as only together we can all achieve good standards of living and be proud of our local area. Thanks in advance. Residents of Clongriffin.

  • Help 6th years of St Aidan’s get their last week of school
St.Aidan’s Comprehensive School 6th year students gathering outside their school this evening as 15 minutes before the bell on the 16/05/25 they get told it’s their last day of 6th year.  Us students are appalled that the school is telling us last minute that we do not have school next week. The students went in and tried to talk it out and we all got shut down and got told to empty our lockers. As students stood there crying after what was told to them and there was no sympathy or any look of care in their eyes for the clearly annoyed and frustrated students. This is a disgrace on students who spent 6 years in the school studying hard and looking forward to graduation and the build up of leaving school. To get that taken away from us we are utterly disappointed and we should have a valid reason given to us why we can’t go in next week, and why it was taken away from us. The principal stood infront of students who were crying with no sympathy. Rumours of pranks circulated the staff, with no clear verification that any of it was happening. Students had no knowledge or plans for any said pranks. The following dress up days were planned: dress up as OAPs, cowboys and a beach day. The end of school is already a tough time for students as pressure of the leaving cert exams is ramping up and up and we prepare for the end of this chapter. It is horrible and unfair on all students who just wanted to cherish their last week in school together. The school is renowned for preaching mental health and sent an ample amount of students home crying. Utter hypocrisy. The absolute majority of our year has always followed the rules and tried our best to be good students and we have been sent home with 15 minutes notice that it was our last day together. Now we stand in unity to be allowed to attend our last week of school.  We hope to get the people of cootehill and surrounding areas behind us. Please sign this petition.

  • Spend money on homes not weapons. Rescind PESCO
Reverse the decision to sign-up to the Permanent European Security Co-Operation (PESCO). This agreement squanders billions of our budget on weaponry which could and should be spent on housing and health instead. PESCO ultimately leads to the creation of an EU army, running counter to Irish neutrality.

  • We need affordable childcare
Our childcare model is broken. As a country we spend more subsidising animals than we do helping families afford childcare. Low and what is called 'high' income families suffer as well as childcare workers on meager earnings. Good policies can fix that
