We, the undersigned, are writing to express our deep concern over the decision to demolish six historic cottages on Francis Street to make way for a temporary car park. These are not just any buildings; they represent a part of Ennis' cultural heritage, and they also have the potential to provide desperately needed affordable/public housing for people in Clare who are struggling to find a place to live.

Nurses basic salary in Ireland is €36,000 and the basic salary for a TD is €96,000. This discrepancy is payscales is unjust and immoral. Nurses save lives and in the worst times, are by people’s sides as they die, they deserve so much more.

€400,000 is needed to keep the Air Ambulance flying. The Irish Government and the HSE owes it to the people in Rural Ireland to get this desperately needed service back working. The CoronaVirus has meant that the Air Ambulance cannot fundraise, which is the organization's only source of income. It is beggars belief that this essential service is constantly at risk, risking the lives of Hundreds or Thousands. Lets make this issue headline news from the Ground up. A New site in Confey could be considered to cater for the lar epopulaiton and the expected rise in population figures over the coming years.  Our Post Office has been established for decades. It is part of the social, economic and cultural heritage of Leixlip. It is a landmark site in our town centre, which creates footfall, vitality and viability at this location.  Leixlip registered the highest commercial vacancy rate in Kildare at 15.9%. A loss of a Post Office will fuel this rise in vacancy. An Post must support this village and the businesses investing in it.

The GPO is the epicentre of our revolutionary history. Recent proposals to turn it into a mixed used space with shops and office space in it make a mockery of our past.  We are calling on the Irish government to reverse plans to redevelop the GPO.  Instead of shopping and retail space we want to see investment in the GPO - enhancing it as a space for heritage, history and culture while preserving a working post office.  The history of the 1916 rising and revolutionary period should be celebrated and presented far more prominently on the main street of our capital city. Investment in enhancing the museum and cultural aspect of the GPO should sit with the development of the Women of the Revolution statue that is being commissioned by DCC outside the GPO.
