  • Growing Clongriffin
We, the residents of Clongriffin (including Beltree, Parkedge and all other areas of Clongriffin) are very pleased with the fact that more and more people are settling in the new houses and apartments in Clongriffin. However, we feel that the area is missing some of the crucial elements which are necessary in modern societies. As Country starts reopening after Covid19 crisis, now may be a perfect moment to discuss this matter. We believe that the area is missing schools of all levels as those in neighbouring areas do not have enough capacity and require commuting. We are asking for schools so our children can stay in the local area without a need to travel. The building near Train Station which was supposed to be a shopping mall needs to be opened and its status resolved. Right now, it's standing as an abandoned place without any purpose. It probably has space not only for a big shop but also potentially for a Community centre, Cinema, coffee shops, clothing and sport shops, grocery, etc. We are asking to allow opening of new business in the area such as coffee/grocery shops or any other small business ; our understanding is that they can't open due to high rental prices and we are asking those rental prices to be reduced or finding other methods of attraction. We are asking for local Garda Station to improve security. We are asking for additional Bus stop at Marrsfield Avenue near Vesta. We are asking for enriching our parks and common open areas with more sports and kids facilities such as playgrounds, bicycle lanes, small soccer fields, basketball courts, gyms, etc. We need more trash bins on our streets and common areas. Existing bins in Father Collins Park should be better positioned and more dog waste bins installed. We are ready to participate and help in any further discussions about this matter and we appreciate your understanding and help as only together we can all achieve good standards of living and be proud of our local area. Thanks in advance. Residents of Clongriffin.

  • JUSTICE FOR the UNDOCUMENTED (JFU)
Undocumented People There are around 17,000 undocumented people in Ireland. 3,000 of these are children. Living undocumented is extremely difficult. Simple things like finding safe work, reporting a crime, and accessing healthcare are not always possible and often dangerous. Undocumented people live in constant fear and anxiety. Most undocumented people are living in Ireland many years, working to support themselves. All they want is the chance to live safely and securely in their home. Campaign History A community of undocumented people known collectively as ‘Justice for the Undocumented’ (JFU) have been campaigning for over 10 years for a solution on this issue. The solution is regularisation. A safe way for people to come forward and apply for a status here. Thanks to the hard work of JFU a historic commitment was secured in the programme for government to regularisation last June. Pivotal Point The Minister for Justice Helen McEntee and her officials are working at present on the details of this scheme. The priority now is to make sure that the scheme introduced is as broad and inclusive as possible. We need to make sure that people who need this are not left behind. That is why we need your help.

  • Amend Road Traffic Legislation to Support Emergency First Responders
I am writing to express my strong support for the inclusion of Community First Responders (CFRs) and other emergency volunteers in the national Road Traffic Legislation, granting them the same parking and operational exemptions that are currently afforded to official emergency services. Community First Responders are often the first individuals on the scene in emergency situations, providing critical care before the arrival of official emergency services such as ambulances or fire brigades. However, under the current legislation, CFRs and other volunteers are not provided the same legal protections, particularly when it comes to parking in designated areas during emergency response. This creates unnecessary barriers and delays for these vital volunteers, who frequently operate under time-sensitive conditions. Recently, Kildare County Council considered a proposal by Social Democrats Cllrs Pat Balfe and Chris Pender to implement a local parking pass scheme for CFRs and other volunteers in the Newbridge Kildare Municipal District. The council highlighted that there is no national legislative provision allowing CFRs to be exempt from parking penalties, as is the case with official emergency vehicles. The council’s response underscores the urgent need for a legislative change at the national level to ensure that CFRs and emergency volunteers are able to perform their life-saving duties without hindrance. Therefore, I urge the Government to act swiftly to amend the Road Traffic Legislation to include CFRs and other emergency volunteers in the same category as official emergency services. This legislative amendment would: 1. Provide CFRs and other emergency volunteers with the same parking exemptions as ambulances and fire brigades when responding to emergencies. 2. Remove the need for temporary parking passes or cumbersome appeal processes, ensuring consistent and fair treatment for all emergency responders. 3. Empower local authorities to easily accommodate these changes, supporting swift and unhindered emergency response at a local level. Community First Responders and volunteers are an essential part of our national emergency response system, and they deserve to be recognised and supported by the law. By making this amendment, the Government would ensure that these responders can carry out their duties without fear of penalties or delays, ultimately helping to save lives and protect communities. I kindly ask that you consider this request and take the necessary steps to amend the legislation as a matter of priority. Thank you for your attention to this crucial issue. Yours sincerely,

  • No Going Back - We Want an All Ireland National Health Service!
We call for temporary public control over private hospitals to be extended to bring them into permanent, public ownership. This would lay the foundation of an All-Ireland National Health Service free at the point of delivery and fit for the health needs of our population in the 21st century. The campaign for an All-Ireland National Health Service is based upon the following principles: o All hospitals under public control o Increased pay and an enhanced career structure for nurses and all health and social care workers. o For publicly funded Primary Care that includes mental health support, physiotherapy, speech therapy etc. o For an integrated Health and Social Care service o The establishment of a state pharmaceutical company to manufacture essential medicines at low cost. o The exclusion of private practice and fees from public hospitals After this crisis, there are likely to be others. There will also be a backlog of untreated patients which will put even greater strain on our health services, North and South. In this situation the creation of an All Ireland National Health Service is more urgent than ever. Post Covid-19 there can be no going back.

  • Not fit for purpose
Tusla must be held accountable for their actions. The Issue Tusla, the Child and Family Agency of Ireland, has tragically failed the very children it is meant to protect. Numerous reports and personal testimonies have surfaced stating that Tusla's actions have not only failed to uphold the rights of parents, but have also caused irreparable harm by breaking the bonds between parents and children. This breach of trust is a gross violation of the rights of vulnerable families and demands immediate attention and action. Social workers employed by Tusla are entrusted with the responsibility of ensuring the welfare and care of children. Unfortunately, instead of safeguarding this trust, there have been instances where Tusla employees have allegedly failed to follow court orders and have committed perjury, further damaging the trust that already fragile families place in them. The ramifications of these actions are far-reaching, with children facing potentially lifelong impacts due to broken family bonds and parents left feeling powerless and disenfranchised. We propose that the courts take immediate steps to address these failings and restore accountability within Tusla. We call for a comprehensive investigation into the operations of Tusla and demand that measures be put in place to ensure adherence to court orders. Moreover, staff found guilty of perjury or breaching these orders should face appropriate legal consequences, including fines and potential prison sentences. Implementing these steps will not only hold Tusla accountable but will also ensure the future well-being and security of the children under their care. Sign this petition to stand with us, hold Tusla accountable, and protect the future of Ireland's children.

  • Use the vacant Dunnes site on Sarsfield St, Limerick city
Sell to the local authority or bring back to use- the vacant and increasingly derelict building they own on the gateway of Limerick city’s waterfront. This building has been vacant for 11 years and is an eyesore for all those who live in or visit Limerick city. Many equate its non-use with land-hoarding in a time of crisis.
