Traffic Calming measures for MacroomWe formally request that Cork County Council introduce traffic calming measures on all routes entering Macroom town. With a focus on reducing speed of traffic, increasing pedestrian safety and ensuring a safer transit of all who travel through our lovely town. We would like Vehicle activated signs, signs which react with a message if they detect a vehicle exceeding a pre-determined speed on both the Cork and Killarney entry points to Macroom. We would like the Cork County Council to consider raised pedestrian crossings such as speed humps for all crossings in Macroom. We would like such speed humps to be considered for Sleaveen Rd and Coolyhane. Sleaveen Rd is a main access point to two schools and the playground. Coolyhane has seen people use excessive speeds which make the road unsafe. We would like the council to remove the parking spaces which are currently opposite the entry way to Bus Eireann Bus Stop.99 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Sarah Murphy

End the GAA's sponsor deal with AllianzThe GAA needs to end its title partnership with German insurance provider Allianz. Allianz is the largest insurer of Israeli weapons manufacturer Elbit systems, who have been the manufacturer for the weapons used in Israel's genocide in Gaza, in which up to 300,000 people have been murdererd by Israel, and its illegal occupation in the West Bank in Palestine and the Golan Heights in Syria. Allianz claims that it cares about the children of Ireland, and their involvement in sport. However, Israel has killed over 400 athletes and at least 18,000 children (probably way more according to Lancet figures). It is for this reason that the GAA is complicit in the genocide in Gaza by allowing the partnership with Allianz to go ahead. This is a blatant act of sportswashing which needs calling out and dealing with. I ask anyone sharing this petition to tag your local clubs, your county board, the GAA itself, and anyone you know with an audience, so this can be seen by as many people as possible. Protect Our Youth: Say No to the Casino in GreystonesDear [Local Politicians], I am writing to you today to express my deep concern about the proposed casino in Greystones and its potential impact on our community, particularly our youth. I urge you to take decisive action to protect them by stopping the construction of this casino and only allowing it in an area that does not put vulnerable individuals at risk. Here are five compelling reasons why I believe this is the right course of action: 1. Adverse Effects on Mental Health: Gambling has been shown to have devastating consequences for the mental health and well-being of young people. Our youth are already exposed to gambling through sports, and we cannot afford to let them be exposed to this dangerous vice in their own neighborhood. 2. Proximity to Schools: The proposed site of the casino is in close proximity to schools, putting our children at risk of normalizing gambling as a part of their daily life. We must protect their innocence and prevent gambling from becoming a part of their future. 3. Increased Incidence of Gambling: The incidence of gambling among teenagers and young men has skyrocketed in recent years, and we cannot afford to add to this growing problem. 4. Protection of Vulnerable Individuals: The casino will also be in close proximity to rehabilitation facilities such as Tiglin, putting individuals in recovery at risk of relapse. We must protect these vulnerable individuals and only allow such a venue in an area where there are no schools or rehab facilities. 5. A Stand for Our Community: By taking a stand against the casino, we are making a statement about our values as a community and our commitment to protecting our youth and vulnerable individuals. In conclusion, I implore you to take immediate action to stop this casino and to only allow such a venue in an area that does not put our youth, vulnerable individuals, and community at risk. Thank you for your attention to this matter. Sincerely, The residents of Greystones.2,627 of 3,000 SignaturesCreated by Greystones Residents

Put limits on the purchase of land by the mega wealthyThe case for a Land Observatory in Ireland. Irish farmland is being bought up by billionaire investors who are able to pay treble the current market value. Farmers who need to expand to remain viable, or new entrant farmers are completely shut out of the bidding when these individuals or syndicates wish to add to their vast land portfolios. The result is a growing monopoly by these new absentee landlords which spells the death knell of the family farm. Inflated land values have serious implications for Capital Acquisition tax going forward (gift and inheritance tax). Land purchase by state sponsored foreign vulture funds includes the buying up of thousands of hectares for forestry. There are growing concerns about the environmental sustainability of land use by corporate agri-industrial landowners. All this is happening now with no sign of slowing down. While there is no law against massive land acquisition, it is unconstitutional: Article 45 paragraph (v) of our 1937 Constitution holds that: “The State shall, in particular, direct its policy towards securing....that there may be established on the land in economic security as many families as in the circumstances shall be practicable." But the State is currently doing nothing to honour this commitment.663 of 800 SignaturesCreated by Irish Family Farms

Basketball Courts in Kilbogget Park CabinteelyI hope this letter finds you well. My name is James Curry, and I am a resident of Watsons estate, who is passionate about the well-being and development of our community. I am writing to bring to your attention an idea that has been on my mind for many years, which is to create 2 basketbal courts in the park. Especially since the 2 basketball nets that were located on footpaths have been removed to make way for a sign and entrance to a cafe, yes a sign seems to be more important than the basketball nets. As you may know, recreational facilities play a critical role in promoting physical activity, community engagement, and overall mental health, especially for our youth. Unfortunately, our current facilities do not meet the growing demand for accessible and safe sports spaces when it comes to basketball. Originally the basketball nets were put on the footpath in the park, now the basketball nets are placed in the astroturf football pitch. This is not suitable for a sport like basketbal at any level. I have spoken with many residents, and it is clear that there is a strong desire for more basketball facility’s, which are both cost-effective to construct and popular among a wide range of age groups. To support this effort, I am in the process of launching a petition, This petition aims to demonstrate the level of demand and the importance of this project to local residents. I believe that by providing two new basketball courts, we can offer a constructive outlet for our youth, promote healthy lifestyles, and foster a greater sense of community. I understand that creating such facilities requires coordination and resources, but I firmly believe that the long-term benefits far outweigh the initial investment. I would love the opportunity to meet with you or one of your representatives to discuss this proposal further and explore ways in which we can work together to make this vision a reality. Thank you for considering this proposal. I look forward to your feedback and am happy to provide any additional information that may assist in making this project a success. Together, we can make a positive and lasting impact on our community. Sincerely, James Curry45 of 100 SignaturesCreated by James Curry

Protect the Traveller Community During Covid19Local authorities need to ensure that every family has access to running water, toilets & electricity and where possible extra space for social isolating. Traveller accommodation including group housing and halting sites need to be given the same priority focus as homeless hubs etc to support families protect themselves, to enable families to apply government guidelines re social distancing and to self isolate if required. In areas where there is overcrowding and there is space within the area blocked off by the local authorities through the erection of fencing or borders etc, this space MUST be opened up. In many halting sites, local authorities have blocked off yards and bays where families once lived. Many of these areas already have services in the grounds to facilitate the immediate installation of sanitation units providing toilets and running water at a minimum and the provision of safe electricity to families. Local authorities must open up these spaces, yards or bays to allow families to lessen the overcrowding. They must install additional sanitation units to ensure families who need independent access to toilets and running water have them. They must provide space for small mobile homes to allow people to self isolate if diagnosed with or suspected of having Covid19.1,151 of 2,000 SignaturesCreated by Eileen Flynn
