We are calling on our local authority, Leitrim County Council to prohibit the use of glyphosate based weedkillers in all public places including public footpaths, road verges, council estates and amenity areas. We are also calling on the county council to use alternative methods for weed control without the use of toxic herbicides. Regarding the spread of the weed known as 'Japanese Knotweed' we are aware of the seriousness of this invasive species but studies have concluded that the longterm use of glyphosate weedkillers do not kill Japanese knotweed. Cease from advertising, offering and considering granting mining licences. I register my objection on the grounds of threats to the health and well being of the natural environment and that of the local community. Mining is a process that is hugely destructive to land, water and air and to all who require these for their continued healthy existence. In this era of Climate Emergency and rapid species loss the granting of licenses to prospect is very much a step in the wrong direction. It is at odds with the responsibilities of this government at this crucial time for the planet and all that live in it.

In light of the fact that no combined study has been carried out on the health impacts to residents, of massive incinerator complex and an enormous pig factory/farm of 17,500 animals - in an area already known for poor air quality, we are asking Antrim and Newtownabbey Council to request a Judicial Review on our behalf. -
