  • Traffic cameras- pedestrian safety Galway
I think Galway badly needs traffic cameras to catch and fine the hundreds of red light runners and Amber light speeders on a daily basis. Every day I see people breaking lights and speeding up for ambers. This is serious for pedestrian safety.

  • Stop the Dump in Fahan
An area of outstanding natural beauty in Fahan will be devastated if these plans go ahead We are calling on Donegal County Council to NOT grant planning permission, especially in light of the fact that it's the same family who was the subject of an RTE Investigates programme earlier this year about illegal dumping in Moville.

  • Restrict Election and Referendum Posters in Athlone
We are proposing that election and referendum posters be restricted by the council to designated sites in Athlone, where all campaigners and candidates can display their posters. This would reduce significantly the number of posters being printed and displayed, improve road safety and the attractiveness of our towns during the tourist season. Perhaps over time we could eliminate them altogether, but for now we're asking the Councillors of Athlone to introduce restrictions.

  • Petition for Increased Safety Measures and Speed Limit Enforcement near Schools
We, the undersigned, are writing to express our deep concern regarding pedestrian and traffic safety on the roads approaching schools in Spiddal on route R336. Despite our proactive efforts, including engaging with local representatives and Galway County Council (GCC), we have yet to see sufficient action taken to ensure the safety of students and the local community. Recent incidents have highlighted the urgent need for enhanced safety measures in this area, and we are seeking your support in addressing these issues. This summer alone, there have been four traffic incidents within Spiddal village, the most recent occurred during school drop-off. GCC has recently published the Draft Road Traffic (Special Speed Limits) County Galway, which includes proposals for special speed limits outside schools on regional roads in other parts of the county. We believe that Scoil Éinne also warrants a special speed limit designation. Although GCC has repaired flashing amber advance warning signs, they are largely ineffective due to their placement outside drivers’ direct line of sight. As a result, we are requesting the following immediate measures: • Strict enforcement of speed limits. • Installation of additional advance warning signage and village gateway signs. • Introduction of a north-south raised pedestrian crossing on the R336, supported by appropriately sized footways leading to the crossing. • In line with the Department of Transport’s September 2023 Speed Limit Review (section 5.2), we believe that Scoil Éinne qualifies as a School Speed Zone and should benefit from appropriate speed limits and treatments designed to manage traffic speeds.

We want the Minister to continue the Coonagh/ Knocklasheen Northern distributor road as agreed by the people of Limerick and it’s communities. The Minister is stopping a project that has 20 million euros spent on it. The project is vital to the Northside of Limerick and must proceed. Page 26 of the Programme for Government - Our shared future states that no project that started should be frustrated or delayed. This is exactly what is happening- please sign and ensure democracy is followed and we are heard.
