Practical Cooking Classes For Every Child in the School Curriculum

Re-embed practical cooking and other life skills, including growing food into the national and secondary school curriculum.

Why is this important?

No Irish child, boy or girl should leave school without being able to cook for themselves. Otherwise, we are undeniably, failing in our duty of care to our young people.
When you teach someone how to cook, you give them a gift that will forever enhance their lives. Our food choices affect our energy, vitality, ability to concentrate. Food affects our mental and physical health and is at the heart of the fight to tackle the climate crisis.

Reasons for signing

  • We've never been so divorced from the natural world or where our food comes from, and learning to cook is a valuable way to reforge these connections and awareness. Health, flavour, farming, wellbeing are all in the mix of ingredients needed to make a culture that works. It's a good recipe for a healthy future.
  • Brilliant suggestion
  • Cooking is a life skill For all of your life
