Amend Assault Leave for Teachers and Special Needs Assistants

The petition seeks to amend Assault Leave to include the following provisions:

1. Immediate financial assistance to cover expenses related to medical bills, therapy sessions, and medication for affected individuals.

2. Assault leave for teachers and SNAs for the DURATION of medically certified leave, extending beyond the current three to six months.

3. The establishment of a comprehensive support system for educators who become victims of workplace violence, ensuring a swift and empathetic response to their needs.

Why is this important?

It is imperative that appropriate measures be put in place to support Teachers and SNAs who have been assaulted in the classroom. Anyone who suffers an assault in the workplace their sole focus should be on their recovery. I believe these amendments are crucial for the wellbeing of our educators and to ensure a safe and supportive working environment.
