To: Core Bus Corridor Project

Save Shankill Village

This campaign has ended.

The National Transport Authority of Ireland has announced the core bus corridor project. This project claims that it will; deliver 230 Km of dedicated bus lanes and 200 Km of cycle tracks along 16 routes inside of Dublin. Proposals are being met with strong opposition across Dublin and Shankill as a community and town has severe concerns about Route 13 from Bray to City Centre.

Save Shankill Village (SSV) are concerned and affected locals in Shankill and the surrounding areas. We are challenging and protesting the NTA and BusConnects proposals for Route 13 and in particular through Shankill Village, which will be destroyed if the proposals were to go ahead.

Why is this important?

166 properties (minimum) will be impacted by the project on Route 13, with removal of parking spaces in Shankill village, 330 roadside trees removed and new bus lanes introduced in acquired land spaces such as gardens and green areas. All for a maximum of 10 minutes (which we believe is exaggerated) saved bus time from Bray to City Centre.

The proposals impact local businesses, parking for elderly and disabled, damage and destruction of local heritage such as the old railway bridge, safety issues for school children, environmental damage and harm to local wildlife and not least, impacting local's gardens, green areas and quality of life.

Sign this petition, familiarise yourself with the plans on the busconnects.ie website, and send in your objection through their online form here:

How it will be delivered

We plan to deliver this petition to the NTA and BusConnects groups, and to our local TDs to showcase the needs of the locals in Shankill.
