  • Support E-learning for kids during a pandemic
OK, let's make this straight! Nobody, I mean nobody wants children return to school as much as their parents, trust me!!! In my opinion it is definitely better for their mental health and social abilities when they are in school! Online learning is just no comparison to in person learning, without a doubt! But, yes, there's always a but! Unfortunately, we're in a pandemic! Probably the worst one in the past 100years! It is not easy to be the decision maker in any country at this very moment, we get that! You want to open the schools by the end of the month, for the sick of our economy and better education of the children, fair enough. But, here's that but again. How about kids with underlined health problems? How about parents with health issues? How about all the teachers? How about kids living in 3 generation household? How about the parents who are just simply do not want put their children and themselves at risks during a world pandemic??? There's no one solution for all, and they say you can't keep everyone happy! True, and fair. The only thing is, there is a way! And you can keep almost everyone happy! Here it is! Open schools, so whoever want to and happy to send their children back to school, do so. At the meantime, let the teachers who has underlined conditions to teach online, so all students can keep up with their education without having to put themself or their love ones at risks! Government should also set up support programs on TV like the Teaching hub during the lockdown. So everyone will have a choice! So people do not have to choose between the education of their children or taking a chance to get infected by this deadly virus! If we know we're in this for a long time, why can't we do this? There is no better time for the government to do this because it is the start of a school year! All classes are starting from the very beginning! At the end of the day, we all know, at some stage, some county, in some school, some children and teachers will get it, from somewhere. Yes, children may get it milder than adults, but the younger patient end up in the ICU rates is 1 out of 3, it is as high as adults! Also, they may get it mild, they still need someone to look after them when they are sick, as contagious as Covid is, who is going to look after the parents when we get it from our children??? It is a very small country and there is no such thing is outbreak in one school, and our health system simply can not afford any school outbreaks! Open the school the right way, give people choice, give people a chance to get through this hard time and give Ireland a safer autumn/winter!!! Protect our children, protect each other so we can protect our Ireland! If you agree, please share! Stay safe everyone! Love ❤️

  • Biodiversity Crisis in Ireland
Dear Woodies As the largest chain of DIY Stores and Garden Centres in Ireland you are a critical link to many of the two million domestic gardens in Ireland which are a potential platform for saving Ireland from the biodiversity crisis. We appeal to you to stop selling Roundup weedkiller as this is harmful to people and the environment and many people are simply unaware of this when they purchase it in your stores and use it in their private gardens. We appeal to you instead to get behind the biodiversity crisis. There is a great deal of money to be made because there is a huge amount of work to be done in supporting biodiversity around the country. • We need people planting fruit and nut trees and other kinds of native trees. • We need pollinator friendly plants. • We need native hedging for wildlife corridors. • We need eco friendly pots and signage for wild gardens and signage for pollinator plants to spread the word. • We need people growing their own pesticide-free vegetables and herbs. In fact the number of garden projects is endless and this is a fantastic way to grow your already existing customer base. This is an excellent opportunity to get involved with the community while at the same time making more money. Per Woodies logo we are all homemakers so we are all in this together. Please take this opportunity to do something of enormous value for your business, your community, your country and your planet.

  • Support Louth County Council Motion For Palestine
A chara, In solidarity with the Palestinian people and in protest against the current genocide, I’m calling on you and others councillors to support the following motion put forward by Councillor Emma Cutlip that states: “This council declares its solidarity with the Palestinian people and all protected people who are subject to war, armed conflict, or occupation and who require reliance on the protections afforded to civilians under the Geneva Convention Relative to the Protection of Civilian Persons in Time of War, 1949 (the fourth Geneva Convention). This council recognizes that through its day-to-day operation it invests and purchases goods and services with public monies in a wide range of ways. Therefore, this council shall divest itself of all investments, holdings, procurement, or purchasing of goods or services which have originated in whole or in part from occupying powers as defined by the fourth Geneva Convention.” My reason for writing this is I am saddened and ashamed by our current governments lack of support for South Africa’s case at the ICJ and their inability to call out Israel’s despicable genocidal policies. As Israel continues to expand their illegal settlements in the Occupied West Bank along with the forced evictions and displacement of Palestinians across Palestine, I am urging you to take a stand and declare your solidarity with the Palestinian people by supporting this motion. Go raibh míle maith agat, (Your Name)

  • Stop The Legalisation of Slot Machines Donegal
We are calling on councillors in the Inishowen and Letterkenny Municipal District Councils NOT to adopt part III of the Gaming & Lotteries Act on March 12th which will give free reign to the gaming establishments to prey on the most vulnerable, by enticing people with gambling addictions with ‘bigger jackpots’ to spiral further into debt and danger and increase gambling addiction in Donegal.
