Ministers new €16,000 pay rise is obscene

The Dáil has passed laws to increase the remuneration of three 'super junior' ministers who will now be entitled to an allowance of €16,000 for sitting at Cabinet, on top of their €124,000 salary for serving as Minister of State.
Fianna Fáil's Jack Chambers, who is chief whip, Fine Gael's Hildegarde Naughton, Minister of State for Roads, and Green Party Senator Pippa Hackett, a junior minister in the Department of Agriculture, will be eligible for the allowance.
We are calling on these three ministers not to accept this payment.

Why is this important?

We need to let the politicians that voted for this pay rise know that this is totally unacceptable while the country is in crisis and they are accountable to us, the people.

It’s a week since I set this up, we have eleven and a half thousand signatures, the first few days climbed at incredible speed but the truth is not enough of us care, politicians can do what they like when it comes to their wages without any repercussions
Not one of the three made a statement on their pay rise
Not one of the seventy two that voted even tried to justify why they felt it was the right thing to do in a time of national financial crisis
To the people that have signed and shared, thanks 👍

Where are Ministers Pippa Hackett, Hildegarde Naughton and Jack Chambers ???
Where are the SEVENTY TWO ministers that voted for it???
If there was a school opening or a new road or a tree being planted they would be out with their “delighted to announce” photo opportunity
Here’s how it works, they make decisions knowing they will get away with it, yes there will be outrage and complete uproar for a few days but it will die down and they may even make a token gesture (in this case “gifting” a third of the obscene payment meanwhile a lot of us think “ah shur, nothing we can do”
But we can do something, we can stay angry and outraged at their behaviour and we can commit to telling them we want change and hold them accountable for voting “Tá” when the right thing to do is vote “Níl”
I’m not letting this go
if like me you have had enough of the same old same old please sign this petition, if you’ve already signed it, thanks, please share it
