  • Pedestrian Crossings in Ireland: We deserve better!
We are not given adequate time to cross the street and roads in Ireland at crossings. I want them to acknowledge that "4-6 seconds" is not adequate time for many people to cross at pedestrian crossings in Ireland. When we compare with France, Spain, and Portugal , pedestrian crossings are very rushed here, and people are not at all able to cross in a relaxed fashion in many cases. This is because the priority of the car over pedestrians is still enshrined in the time given to pedestrians to cross roads and streets in this country. It is also notable that there seems to be a lack of trust of Irish drivers to not speed in urban areas as the lack of Pelican Crossings here in our towns and cities is very noticeable. These are the best way to allow pedestrians cross and not have traffic building up.

  • Ballyhass School Bus
We request that the Ballyhass school bus be made available first and foremost to the children in the parish of Castlemagner and that they not be subject to a lottery system. The parish of Castlemagner begins at the Bridge over the River Dualla in Kanturk therefore the children in Gurteenard, Kilrush, Kilcaskin and Ballymacmurragh, plus many other townlands and also including the village of Castlemagner itself, are all children in the parish of Castlemagner and thus should be guaranteed a place on the local Bus Éireann school bus. These children go to school in Castlemagner, play hurling, football, camogie and ladies football with Castlemagner so for us to be told that we are concessionary and subject to a lottery system seems very unfair. Most especially when this lottery system could see them off the bus the very next year anyway. There surely has to be a better system to cater for the children in the parish. Be it a better system, or, a second bus for a large country school only served by one bus, we need to see change.

  • ESB, don't hike up EV charging fees
The rise in cost to charge EV's at ESB charging points is outrageous and can't be allowed to go ahead. The ESB is supposed to be helping people move away from dirty fuels like petrol and diesel.  This price hike will harder for people to use EV.

  • More Lifeguarded Beaches in North Wexford
County Wexford has a coastline of 246km. The lifeguarding provision in county Wexford predominantly services beaches from Morriscastle southwards, ignoring the number of beaches in north County Wexford. Since 2020, there has been no lifeguard based at Courtown resulting in the only lifeguarded beach between Morriscastle and Arklow being Ballymoney North Beach. Overcrowding and traffic jams are regular features of Ballymoney/Sea Road. Newtown/Old Bawn, Cahore South Beach, Cahore North Beach (adjacent/across from pier), Donaghamore, Roney Point, Poulshone, Ardamine, Courtown (& Burrow), Kiltennel (locally known as Dodds Rocks) Ballymoney South Beach, Ballymoney North Beach, Clone Strand, and Kilpatrick are all popular beaches where people swim during the summer months.

  • No to online surveillance: Scrap plans for state-run Digital ID card
We’re calling on Patrick O’Donovan, Minister for Media, to scrap plans for sweeping digital surveillance through new online age verification. The proposal would force people to link their MyGovID (including biometric data, Public Service Card and other identity documents) to access social media platforms. There is a risk tech companies would also gain access to this government database.
