  • Stop the CETA Investor Court System (ICS)
The Government is determined to push ahead with CETA, and the Investor Court System (ICS), which is an infringement on Irish juridical sovereignty.  Wicklow County Council helped persuade the Government to stop, to think again back in 2021.  But now following a Supreme Court decision the Government is ammending the Arbitration Act which will allow the ICS bypass the Irish courts. Please support an Emergency Motion at the February 9th County Council meeting calling on the Government to stop; to withdraw the Arbitration Act amendment, and abandon their plans to ratify the ICS element of CETA. (The Trade element of CETA is proceeding successfully)

  • Traffic cameras- pedestrian safety Galway
I think Galway badly needs traffic cameras to catch and fine the hundreds of red light runners and Amber light speeders on a daily basis. Every day I see people breaking lights and speeding up for ambers. This is serious for pedestrian safety.

  • Call for the resignation of Dara Calleary and others who did not follow guidelines
Following on from the news that more than 80 people, including the Agriculture Minister, senators and TDs attended a golf function in a hotel just a day after the Government announced new lockdown measures to stop the spread of Covid-19, we are calling for the resignation of active TD's, councillors and senators. The table plan listed 82 people for the sit-down function, with up to 10 people per table, even though guidelines state no more than six people should be seated at any one table. The guest list included: Minister for Agriculture Dara Calleary and his wife Siobhan, Galway TD Noel Grealish, Senator Jerry Buttimer, Senator John Cummins, Senator Paul Daly, Senator Niall Blaney, former Fine Gael Senator Cáit Keane, Judge and former Attorney General Seamus Woulfe, the Moroccan Ambassador Lahcen Mahraoui, former Labour Party senator Lorraine Higgins, former Fine Gael Senator and TD for Sligo–Leitrim Gerry Reynolds, former Fine Gael senator Imelda Henry, Circuit Court judge and a former Workers' Party TD Pat McCartan, who serves as the vice-captain, and a number of others.

  • NO TO NATIONAL PAY BY WEIGHT CHARGES
Dont let the government impose a Pay by Weight Charges on bins nationally its costly and will encourage more dumping. We are not polluters by right we should be paid to recycle. We need more options in this area. Where are the garages that should encourage you to put your rubbish bags in if you are on holiday pay by a charge and should be other options for those who cannot afford it.
