Safe Staffing levels for Healthcare Workers in Private Nursing Homes IrelandHealthcare workers are being paid a poor salary by the private sectors, in particular our Healthcare Assistants are suffering the most. In addition to this in private nursing homes the staffing levels are extremely low. This results in a huge staff turnover causing stress and anxiety for the staff. These healthcare workers are real people with families. Their work is invaluable to the private sector and the people they provide care to, their families and our communities, without healthcare workers there would be no healthcare system. Even after almost two years of a pandemic and alot of hard work, caring for our countrys most vulnerable, the sacrifices made by healthcare staff and still our healthcare assistants did not receive a pay rise. The salary for healthcare assistants in the private sector is a very poor 10.50 per hour, there is no pension and no sick pay, this has to change. In addition to all of this there is also staff shortages due to the high staff turnover and staff are burnt out. The healthcare assistants still have not received a pay rise therefore their work through a pandemic has not even been recognised. Alot of staff have left the private sector because of this. New inexperienced staff are then recruited and hired for the already burnt out existing staff to retrain all over again only for the same thing to happen. Its shocking and makes no sense!! The price of living in this country has way surpassed the working wage for far too long and while our healthcare staff are treated like modern day slaves the government hide behind walls and make excuses. Our government are fully aware of what is happening in the private sector and especially in private nursing homes. It's so sad to watch amazing, experienced, caring, exceptional staff who have become so close to our aging population be forced to leave the private sector for a better wage and working conditions elsewhere. I am a healthcare worker and this is a challenge everyday. We desperately need Reform.47 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Margaret Power

Live Steam Offaly County Council Meetingshttps://cdn.uplift.ie/assets/uploads/2025/07/MyUplift-banner-politician-SVG-1-scaled.png Re: Support for Cllr. Masterson’s Motion to Live Stream All Meetings of Offaly County Council I am writing to you to express my strong support for Cllr. Masterson’s motion to live stream all meetings of Offaly County Council. The recent Presidential Election showed that many people across Ireland, and especially Offaly, are frustrated with how politic works. The high number of spoiled and invalid votes reflected not apathy, but a sense of disconnection and belief that voices are not being heard and that real accountability is missing. People are losing faith that their input matters — especially at local level where decisions often have the biggest impact on daily life. If the public cannot easily see or follow what their council is doing, it is no surprise that trust continues to erode. Live streaming council meetings is a straightforward way to begin rebuilding that trust. It would open up local decision-making to everyone — not through filtered reports or summaries, but by allowing people to see what is really said and done in their name. Live streaming meetings would: • Improve transparency and accountability in local government. • Allow residents to see how decisions are made and how their representatives act on key issues. • Enable greater public access and participation, especially for those unable to attend meetings in person due to work, caring duties, distance, or mobility challenges. • Strengthen trust and engagement between the Council and the people of Offaly. This small but important step would show a genuine commitment to openness and accountability — and a recognition that people deserve to see how their representatives act on their behalf. Many other local authorities across Ireland already provide live streaming as a basic public service. It is time for Offaly County Council to do the same. I am calling on you, as my elected representative, to support Cllr. Masterson’s motion to make Offaly County Council meetings accessible to everyone through live streaming.397 of 400 SignaturesCreated by Aoife Masterson
