  • Keep the cycle lane on Shannon Bridge
The temporary cycle lane on Shannon Bridge was introduced as part of Limerick City and County Council's Covid Mobility measures. Whilst it was due to be installed from June 8th, it was finally delivered on the 16th of July. It is now proposed that the lane is removed on August 28th, one day after children return to school. This lane must become a permanent feature to protect people cycling across the river each day. This bridge is a commuter route for many people & as bus capacity will be decreased due to Covid, more space is needed for those cycling & walking to school, work, leisure. If not, the bridge will go back to being a hostile, unsafe place for people, who risk an accident or worse, if this segregated lane is removed.

  • Save Patrician Villas
It would mean a lot if you took a moment to add your name to this petition. The National Transport Authority, as part of the BusConnects project are seeking planning permission to make radical modifications outside and inside Patrician Villas. These plans include the loss of a recreational green space and the removal of at least 50% of the trees that protect Patrician Villas from the busy N11. We, the residents of Patrician Villas and Grove, were not invited to give our opinions on what may happen in our own neighbourhood and while we do not want to impede public transport infrastructure improvements, we would appreciate the opportunity to enter into dialogue with the NTA. This would allow residents present less destructive, safer and mutually agreeable alternatives. A petition may help us get such opportunity so we ask you to kindly lend your support and sign this petition so we can present it to the National Transport Authority, An Bord Pleanala, TDs and County Councillors. After you've signed the petition, could you also take a moment to share it with others? It's easy – all you need to do is forward this link. Thank you!

  • Health Not Handcuffs: Decriminalise Drug Use Now
Dear Taoiseach, I am writing to urge you to take urgent action on drug policy reform by implementing drug decriminalisation in Ireland. Criminalisation harms individuals, families, and communities — it pushes people away from the help they need and traps them in cycles of harm. The 2024 Citizens’ Assembly recommended decriminalisation as a humane, evidence-based solution. Countries like Portugal have shown this approach reduces overdoses, infections, and crime, while saving public resources. We ask that you prioritise health over punishment by ending the criminalisation of drug possession, investing in health and social supports, and listening to the voices of those most affected. Ireland cannot afford to wait any longer. Lives depend on it. Yours sincerely, UISCE National Advocacy Service for People Who Use Drugs

  • Reopen YouthReach in Iveragh, Southwest Kerry
Dear Minister, Iveragh is a peninsula in Southwest Kerry. It's most isolated spots are a one and a half hour drive in a car from urban centres Tralee and Killarney. Public transport takes even longer, if you are lucky enough to be near a bus route. For over 20 years we have had a YouthReach centre providing access to education to young people who fell out of mainstream education. This may seem like a small unimportant service but to those who availed of it, it was a life changer and even a lifesaver. YouthReach integrates Personal Development along with Education and Training. Young people who may face challenges in mainstream education due to being autistic or lgbtqi or mental health challenges or different to their peers in many ways found a safe haven in YouthReach SW Kerry. During the Covid Pandemic YouthReach SW Kerry was shut down. In September 2021when every other area of Further Education began to open up it became clear that Kerry ETB was not going to re-open SW Kerry YouthReach. For parents of young adults who face daily challenges, this is devastating news. Their young adult is denied access to a vital educational opportunity in a warm atmosphere of support. I think Heartbroken best describes the feeling. Part-time courses delivered without the emotional and psychological support given through YouthReach cannot replace this devastating loss in Service. If these young people lived in an urban area they would have access to this education service. They are being denied this education service because it is not as easy to deliver in a very rural isolated area. However it was delivered very successfully for over 20 years in SW Kerry, so with commitment from Politicians and Kerry ETB it can be done.
