An Education, Health & Care plan to be legal right of every child and young person in IrelandTo make an Education, Health and Care (EHC) plan the legal and statutory right of every child or young person with special educational, health and social care needs An EHC plan is a legal document that describes a child or young person's special educational, health and social care needs. It explains the extra help that will be given to meet those needs and how that help will support the child or young person to achieve what they want to in their life. Who needs an EHC plan? EHC plans are for children and young people whose special educational needs require more help than would normally be provided in a mainstream education setting (a college, school, nursery). Although the plan can include health or social care needs, your child or young person will not get a plan if they only have health or social care needs that do not affect their education. An EHC plan can be issued to a child or young person between the ages of 0 and 25 years. How will you get an EHC plan? The EHC plans will be drawn up by your local council after an EHC needs assessment. You, your child's education setting or your child, if over 16, can ask your local council to carry out an assessment. What does an EHC plan look like? The sections are: A: The views, interests and aspirations of you and your child. B: Special educational needs (SEN). C: Health needs related to SEN. D: Social care needs related to SEN. E: Outcomes - how the extra help will benefit your child or young person F: Special educational provision (support). G: Health provision. H: Social care provision. I: Placement - type and name of school or other institution J: Personal budget arrangements. K: Advice and information - a list of the information gathered during the EHC needs assessment.833 of 1,000 SignaturesCreated by Cork Autism Conference

Let Ken & Tarak go Home for XmasPlease allow U.S. Peace activists Ken Mayers (82) and Tarak Kauff (77) return home to their families for Christmas. They were arrested for opposing U.S. wars and defending Irish neutrality at Shannon Airport. Bail conditions have kept them in Ireland for more than 7 months. This is harsh punishment for two peace-loving, elderly men . Rest assured, they will return for their trial to prove that WAR IS THE CRIME.939 of 1,000 SignaturesCreated by Galway Alliance Against War

Access to Nutrition in Direct ProvisionThis is a petition calling on Direct Provision Centres to allow their residents 24/7 access to food such as fruit, vegetables, and other healthy snacks. The majority of Direct Provision centres are run for profit and therefore it is Minister O'Gorman's responsibility as the Minister for Children, Disability, Equality, and Integration to ensure that provision of these snacks is essential and not an option.111 of 200 SignaturesCreated by Aoibhinn Boyd

Trial pedestrianisation of Pearse Street in Ballina for July and AugustCllr Mark Duffy’s idea to trial the pedestrianisation of Pearse Street in Ballina should be supported. At busy times, the street is currently overcrowd and doesn’t allow for social distancing — no politician or business owner who cares about public health can honestly object to this. Under COVID-19 Mobility Plans, towns such as Ennis and Malahide and cities like Cork have already acted for the protection of their residents and enabling businesses by implemented pedestrianisation fast... why not Ballina? Do people objecting or wanting to delay think they know better than public health experts? The council should also look at quickly widening footpaths with temporary materials in locations such as outside the tourist office and the former shop called The Gem where the footpath is hardly wide enough for a wheelchair or large pram, never mind social distancing.146 of 200 SignaturesCreated by Cian Ginty

Make public transport reliable and efficient!Us citizens of Galway demand punctuality of both Citydirect and bus Èireann buses. We demand reliability of showing up in the first place, updated/correct bus timetables and honest such as transparent communication about why certain buses do not show up at all, even though they are mentioned on the bus time tables. People who do not use or own cars for their own varied reasons should not be punished for making the decision to use public transport, in order to commute to work and other places or appointments. People depend on the punctuality and reliable information about when buses are supposed to arrive at their allocated bus stop. I, myself had to spend lots of money on ordering taxis or Ubers last minute, only because the bus that I planned on taking did not show up (without any explanations or obvious reasons). Me and many other citizens depend on public transport, in order to show up at our work places on time. So many times I was late for work or had to take a taxi in the end, because no buses showed up. My partner is waking up over one hour earlier than he realistically could, only because from his own experience he knows that there is never a certainty of buses coming. He wakes up so early, in order to be prepared for the case of not only one but, two buses in a row not arriving at the designated bus stop. This situation creates and causes frustration, chronic anxiety and stress, such as misery and unnecessarily wasted resources like money, time and mental capacity. There have to be drastic improvements happening, in order for people to be able to be able to trust the bus time tables and finally make it to work on time. Galway presents itself as a busy, touristy and lively city. Such cities are usually able to provide highly standardised infrastructure and strict plans for public transport. Ideally, buses should arrive every 5-10 minutes, people who do not live in the city centre should not be disadvantaged (like e.g. me living in Knocknacarra) and promised buses must arrive (even if they arrive late). Please consider our anger and frustration. Not everybody is privileged enough to own and use a car, nor does everyone decide to drive a car due to environmental reasons, for instance. The public transport must be more reliable and people should be compensated for all the times they have been left standing in the rain, waiting for at least one and a half hours, being forced to spend all their money on taxis, sincs there is no other way of arriving anywhere and so forth. An argument often brought up is the traffic jams. Infrastructural changes might be considered too, if this is apparently the only reason behind the inefficiency of public transport. The road lanes are way too narrow for vehicles, buses, cyclists and pedestrians to all move on them. Please do not make promises that you cannot fulfill like hanging out bus time tables which cannot be trusted at all. We are all paying for the bus services, but I am refusing to pay for a service which does not provide the bare minimum of what it is supposed to offer. Enough is enough.154 of 200 SignaturesCreated by Sophia Thieme
