Protect Glasmore Park entrance green including pocket forest 🍃🌳
We, Glasmore Park and Windmill Lands Residents Committee, wish to formally express our strong concerns regarding Planning Application Ref: F25A/0412E submitted by the Health Service Executive (HSE) in respect of the proposed development at 63 Rathbeale Road, Swords, Co Dublin K67 EK73.
Having reviewed the proposal our Residents Committee has serious concerns about the scale and nature of the development and its potential impact on our community. In particular, we are extremely concerned about the proposed road infrastructure and any indication that a roadway or access route may extend into or through the established green space at the entrance to Glasmore Park.
Of particular importance is the entrance green space maintained by residents including the pocket forest created by the community as a tribute to frontline workers during COVID-19. This space holds significant social, environmental and community value and its potential loss or disruption is deeply concerning to all residents.
We wish to highlight that the Residents Committee was not consulted in advance of these proposals despite being a well-established and active Committee. Our committee and local residents have dedicated countless voluntary hours to maintaining and improving this green space for the benefit of the entire community.
The absence of any meaningful consultation is unacceptable.
Why is this important?
We are calling on the CEOs at Fingal County Council and the HSE for:
- Full clarification on whether any proposed roads, pathways or access routes will extend toward, connect with, or impact Glasmore Park or its green space
- Confirmation as to whether any part of the existing green space including the community-maintained pocket forest will be affected
- Full details of any proposed changes to boundaries, landscaping, access or usage of these areas
We strongly object to any development that would result in the loss, reduction, or degradation of this valued green spaces/pocket forest.
This petition reflects the strength of feeling within our community. We stand together to protect all our green spaces for current and future generations.
