Petition Against A 36 Metre High Telecoms Mast in Ballyvary, Co. Mayo
This campaign has ended.
Deny planning permission for a 36 metre high telecommunications mast in Ballyvary, Co. Mayo.
Why is this important?
This petition was created to oppose planning permission for the installation of a 36 METRE HIGH telecommunications mast in Atticahill, Ballyvary, Co.Mayo.
According to government guidelines, “Only as a last resort, should free-standing masts be located in a residential area or beside schools”.
The proposed location is within close proximity to Ballyvary National School, as well as Ballyvary Pre-School. The construction of new residential homes and estates in the area is almost complete, further adding to the population of nearby residents who will be affected.
There has been no public consultation with the residents, schools, businesses, and parents in the area who may have had questions as to why this location was chosen.
A deadline of December 19th 2024 has been declared for the public to submit comments on the planning permission, according to Mayo County Council. A range of issues should be addressed with the community before any decision is made, including:
- Health and safety concerns
- Proximity to school and residential areas
- Impact on the local environment
- Impact on property prices
- Lack of public consultation
Please sign the petition by Wednesday the 18th of December so the council can be informed, before the deadline, that this location is opposed by members of the community.
