Kenilworth For The Kids

As parents of children in St. Mary’s College and in local sports clubs across the community, we are calling on politicians to address the urgent need for improved sports facilities for young people across South Dublin. Accessible, high-quality spaces are essential to support both their physical and mental well-being.

This winter, many children will miss out on essential exercise due to a severe lack of accessible, all-weather playing fields. Kenilworth Square, which has served as St. Mary’s College sports ground since 1947, offers a prime opportunity to address this shortfall.

We envision Kenilworth Square as a shared community hub benefiting both the school and local clubs. Upgrading it with full-sized rugby pitches and all-weather surfaces would provide year-round access, creating a safe, vibrant space where children across the area can play, learn, and grow.

Why is this important?

Dublin faces a critical shortage of accessible green spaces, particularly during winter and after heavy rain, making it harder than ever for children to enjoy safe outdoor facilities.

Delaying this project would set a discouraging precedent for similar initiatives across the city, stalling momentum and dampening hopes for the many other clubs—and countless boys and girls—who need these community spaces.

Please sign the petition to support the creation of an enhanced space at Kenilworth that will make a real difference for children across Dublin!

How it will be delivered

We will deliver this petition to all local politicians and those seeking election.
