Dog Park for Monread Park, Naas

We, the undersigned supporters of the Monread Dog Park Petition, respectfully request Naas Town Council to designate a safe, enclosed dog park within Monread Park.

This initiative would improve safety, wellbeing, and responsible park use for all residents.

Why is this important?

As dog ownership in Naas has increased, so too has the demand for safe, enclosed areas where dogs can exercise freely, without disrupting other park users. At present, the park does not have a designated space for off-lead dogs, which has led to safety concerns and limited opportunities for responsible dog socialisation.

We believe that a designated dog park would bring meaningful benefits to the community, including:

  • ✅ Improved safety for children, walkers, and dog owners

  • ✅ Encouragement of responsible pet ownership

  • ✅ Enhanced social wellbeing for both humans and animals

  • ✅ More effective use of public green space

Updates

Hi all

A couple of updates for everyone on the campaign for a designated area for dogs in Monread Park.

Councillor Fintan Brett updated me to say that the Masterplan for Monread Park has been delayed, due to the resources required for the Deɓurgh gardens development. At present it is hoped to have the plan by the end of the year, at which point submissions will be able to be made.

Councillor Bill Clear also replied to me to say that a proposed park in Millenium Park fell through, and he is still working to find some land owner that is willing to sell some ground.

Please keep sharing the petition, we're close to 300 signatures currently, thanks for your support and I'll keep you updated with any news.

Thanks

Matt
