CCTV & Lights for Railway Memorial Garden Ardee
County Councillors of Ardee
Louth County Council
Ardee, Co. Louth
Dear Councillors,
I am writing to you on behalf of the residents of Ardee and the surrounding areas to express our deep concern over the recent incidents of vandalism in the Railway Memorial Garden. As you may be aware, there have been several incidents in the past few months where trees were damaged, and one of the newly installed dog fouling signs was removed and dumped in someone’s front garden. This is not the first time this issue has been brought to your attention, but unfortunately, it seems that our previous appeals have gone unheard.
The Railway Memorial Garden has been lovingly maintained on a voluntary basis by Dermot Maguire, who has dedicated years of hard work to transforming this once-neglected area into the beautiful public amenity that it is today. Dermot's efforts, along with those of other volunteers, have created a space that the entire community can be proud of. It is disheartening and infuriating to see that someone has mindlessly vandalised and stolen property from the Garden with no apparent consequences.
As residents, we believe it is high time that Louth County Council supports the community by installing CCTV cameras and providing adequate public lighting in the Railway Memorial Garden. These measures are essential to deter further vandalism and ensure that the hard work and community spirit that go into maintaining our public spaces are protected.
We respectfully request that you prioritize this matter and allocate the necessary funding for the installation of a CCTV system and improved public lighting in the Railway Memorial Garden. After all the dedication and effort put in by volunteers, it is only fair that the Council steps in to help preserve the space they have worked so hard to create.
Thank you for your attention to this matter. We look forward to your positive response and swift action to safeguard our community spaces.
Yours sincerely,
The residents of Ardee and surrounding areas
