Improving the Maintenance of An Post Street Furniture in Dublin 8

We, the residents and community members of Dublin 8, are asking An Post to ensure that its post boxes, parcel boxes and other street furniture are regularly cleaned, repaired and maintained.
Why is this important?
Some An Post infrastructure across Dublin 8 would benefit from additional maintenance. Graffiti, rust, moss, stickers, peeling paint and general dirt can detract from the appearance of streets and public spaces.
Local residents and volunteers work hard to keep Dublin 8 clean and well cared for. We believe that maintaining An Post’s own street furniture is an important part of this wider effort.
We are asking An Post to:
- Remove graffiti, stickers, moss and accumulated dirt.
- Treat rust and repair damaged areas.
- Repaint post boxes and other street furniture where necessary.
- Repair or replace items that are significantly damaged.
- Carry out regular checks of its street furniture.
- Respond promptly to graffiti and damage.
- Engage constructively with local residents and community groups in identifying locations that require attention.
Well-maintained street furniture contributes positively to the appearance and character of neighbourhoods and helps create clean, welcoming public spaces.
We are asking Mr Kieran Mulvey, Chairman of An Post, to consider a programme of cleaning and maintenance for An Post street furniture across Dublin 8.
We hope An Post will support this initiative and help ensure that its street furniture is maintained to a good standard for residents, visitors and the wider community.
