A Mural for Imelda Keenan: Remembering, Honouring, and Seeking Answers
We call on Waterford Walls to commission and create a mural dedicated to Imelda Keenan, who disappeared from Waterford City in January 1994.
More than 30 years later, Imelda’s family continue to seek answers. A mural would serve as a lasting tribute to Imelda, help keep her story visible within the community, and remind the public that missing persons are never forgotten.
Waterford Walls has transformed the city through public art that tells important stories. We believe Imelda’s story deserves a place among them.
We respectfully ask Waterford Walls to work with Imelda’s family and the local community to create a mural in a prominent location in Waterford City.
Why is this important?
Imelda Keenan disappeared from Waterford in January 1994 and has never been found. More than 30 years later, her family continue to live without answers and her case remains one of Ireland’s longest-running missing person investigations.
A mural dedicated to Imelda would ensure that she is not forgotten. It would honour her life, show support for her family, and raise awareness of missing persons in our communities. Public art has the power to tell important stories, spark conversations, and keep memories alive.
As a city known for celebrating culture and community through street art, Waterford has an opportunity to create a lasting tribute to one of its own. A mural of Imelda would stand as a symbol of remembrance, hope, and the continuing search for answers.
