WATER SUPPLY ISSUES CHAPEL LANE GLENEALY

This is a Petition by the residents of Chapel Lane Glenealy, CountyWicklow

This petition has been created out of desperation in order to have an ongoing issue (several years) addressed by Irish Water, or whoever is responsible for maintaining the water mains supply pipe on this lane.

All of the residents who have signed this petition are experiencing water shortages on a consistent basis, as the water will just cut off completely for several hours, sometimes over 24 hours at a time.

Irish water has received multiple calls from the local residents on this and unfortunately have done nothing to fix the issue.

A water engineer recently advised that the pipe running down the lane is not wide enough and water is not flowing as it should be, this is in turn causing issues with internal tanks not re-filling up and causing water shortages.

It's a basic human right to be able to hydrate and wash with water, not to mention access to sanitation for health and safety, for example, flushing toilets, washing dishes, clothes, bathing babies.

The residents on Chapel Lane, in particular the last few dwellings at the end of the lane, do not have use of the above-mentioned essentials for daily living.   Irish water has received multiple calls from the local residents on this and unfortunately have done nothing to fix the issue.

The prolonged water outages tend to occur more so on the weekends than weekdays, which is usually when people have guests over to their houses, which can lead to embarrassing situations like not being able to flush toilets, have showers etc. Last time I checked this area was not considered to be part of the 3rd World.

The residents of chapel lane urgently require our local counsellor to bring this to the immediate attention of the powers that be, to ensure this issue is fixed as soon as possible. The issue is going on several years now and is getting worse rapidly.

If we see no action on this as soon as possible we will be left with no option but to bring it to the local media. We are currently in the process of making a documentary on the issue, hopefully we wont have to go as far as making the issue more public.
