Support South Africa's ICJ Case against Israel
We are calling on the Irish Government to support proceedings initiated at the UN by South Africa in response to the massacre of the people of Gaza by the Israeli state. The application made to the International Court of Justice alleges violations by Israel of its obligations under the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide.
The application submitted by South Africa has set out clearly how Israel has engaged in "genocidal acts" against Palestinians. It also invokes the Convention’s obligation to prevent genocide and the prohibition on inciting genocide.
The disproportionate and wholly unjustified bombardment of Gaza has laid waste to residential areas and inflicted unconscionable misery, injury and death upon the civilian population of Gaza. Numerous Israeli government ministers and politicians have repeatedly publicly spoken of their desire to raze Gaza to the ground.
As the Israeli state continues to receive unqualified diplomatic backing from the US and most EU member states, there is a moral obligation on the Irish state to insist on the upholding of international law and the protection of all civilian life.
We implore the Government to take action to match their public pronouncements expressing concern at the killing of civilians and join Bolivia, Malaysia, Jordan and Turkey in supporting South Africa's application.

Why is this important?
We need your help to apply pressure on the Irish Government to take action, and make them aware that there is a strong public demand for legal action against the genocidal actions of the Israeli state.
