Stop Creating AI Posters!
We want to stop the usage of generative AI in creative outlets.
Why is this important?
Why is this important? There is a multitude of reasons, pertaining to our education and well-being.
- Generative AI is actively stripping communities of their creativity and passion. It removes the honest work of creating and replaces it with quick, brainless outputs. There is no thought put into this.
- This discourages students from their artistic abilities. As a school, you have the responsibility to facilitate young adults with real advice and guidance for their future careers. If they see that their potential job can be done with the click of a button, it will be disheartening.
- It is blatantly hypocritical. Students are constantly being told not to use AI, and yet teachers utilise it for the simplest tasks like designing a poster.
- Generative AI is contributing to destroying the planet. It requires a staggering amount of electricity to maintain, increasing carbon emissions. A large sum of water is also needed to cool the hardware training these AI models, taking supplies away from people who need it.
- There are better, easy alternatives. PicCollage is what students use to make posters, therefore teachers should have no problem using it either. If teachers do not have time to make posters, TYs have plenty of free time to design them.
Schools should be uplifting creatives, not replacing them.
