Start Hotel Quarantine Now

International travel is a gaping hole in Ireland’s response to the COVID-19 global pandemic. We are now dealing with new COVID-19 variants that are more infectious and more deadly, both in Ireland and elsewhere.

Nearly one year into the global pandemic, with many lives lost, people suffering, and the domestic economy on its knees we demand that the Irish Government put in place a safely managed system whereby all incoming travellers will undergo supervised hotel quarantine.

This will act as our first line of defence in the fight against COVID-19, and will stop new variants of the virus from coming into Ireland.

This has been proven and successfully implemented in New Zealand, Australia, South Korea, Taiwan and Singapore. And now, President Biden has said this will be implemented in the United States of America.

Why is this important?

If the Irish Government does not implement mandatory hotel quarantine:

- there will be more needless suffering and lives lost
- more and more variants will spread in the community, and the vaccines we have now may not be effective against these new variants
- all of our sacrifices to bring numbers down will be undermined.
