  • ESB, don't hike up EV charging fees
The rise in cost to charge EV's at ESB charging points is outrageous and can't be allowed to go ahead. The ESB is supposed to be helping people move away from dirty fuels like petrol and diesel.  This price hike will harder for people to use EV.

  • End House Bidding System in Ireland
We are calling on the Minister for Housing and the Irish Government to:  1. Ban price-based property bidding for homes listed with a fixed asking price. 2. Require real estate agents to honor the advertised price once a legitimate offer is made. 3. Allow bidding only if a property is explicitly listed with “Price on Application” (POA) and not with a fixed amount. 4. Enforce transparency and fairness in all residential property sales through regulation and oversight by the PSRA. These changes will restore trust, protect homebuyers from manipulation, and help stabilise Ireland’s housing market.

  • Protect Our Revolutionary History - Make the GPO a National Monument not a Shopping Centre
The GPO is the epicentre of our revolutionary history. Recent proposals to turn it into a mixed used space with shops and office space in it make a mockery of our past.  We are calling on the Irish government to reverse plans to redevelop the GPO.  Instead of shopping and retail space we want to see investment in the GPO - enhancing it as a space for heritage, history and culture while preserving a working post office.  The history of the 1916 rising and revolutionary period should be celebrated and presented far more prominently on the main street of our capital city. Investment in enhancing the museum and cultural aspect of the GPO should sit with the development of the Women of the Revolution statue that is being commissioned by DCC outside the GPO.

  • The Irish Academy of Fine Arts, at the GPO
This is the proposal to establish an Irish Academy of Fine arts, and house it in the GPO on O'Connell Street, in Dublin. This is to be third level institution that will offer proper training to artists, focussing on basic transferrable skills, original thought, and the principles of beauty. Similar academies in other other cities in Europe, such as The Royal Academy in London, the Ecole des Beaux Arts in Paris, the Repin Academy in St. Peterburg, the Royal Academy in Stockholm, are landmark institutions in landmark buildings, of which those cities are rightfully proud. We have a unique opportunity to establish one of our own. Why do we need an Academy? In Ireland, the current standard of Fine Art education is very low, to the detriment of individual graduates, and society at large. Basic skills are completely ignored, as are the principles of beauty, and students often emerge with an absurdly skewed view of what art actually is. Over the last three generations, art education has been undermined by a contemporary art ethos that champions skill-lessness, self indulgence and the wanton consumption of resources, and is now closer to a process of indoctrination than a process of training. The current model of art education is failing many of us, and we need a new one. An Academy of Fine arts would give us that.  An Academy could be established with a relatively small initial investment, that would pay itself off many, many times over for generations to come. It would bring life and colour to O'Connell Street. It would be a uniquely Irish institution, enriching and strengthening our culture on behalf of everyone who lives in Ireland.
