Promote non-partisan legislation to legalise and regulate cannabis in a manner similar to alcohol.

In Ireland, women are not routinely informed whether they have dense or non-dense breasts after a mammogram - despite the fact that dense breast tissue makes cancer harder to detect and significantly increases the risk of developing it. This lack of transparency is putting lives at risk, and it must change. We are calling on Minister for Health, Dr. Jennifer Carroll MacNeill, to introduce a Breast Density Notification Law that ensures: 1. All women are clearly informed whether they have non-dense or dense breasts after a mammogram. 2. Clear guidance is provided on what their breast density means and any additional screening options, such as ultrasound or MRI. 3. GPs receive this information so they can properly advise their patients. This simple yet life-saving change can lead to earlier detection, better outcomes, and fewer women receiving devastating, advanced-stage cancer diagnoses.

We live or work in Docklands, a vibrant area of our capital. Recently, our community has been plagued by an increase in crime and anti-social behaviour. As local residents and employees, our sense of safety is eroding as we witness harassment, intimidation, assault, graffiti and open drug dealing dramatically increase.

On Tuesday 13th October a motion will come before the NI Assembly calling for an urgent and immediate moratorium on giving licences for exploration, drilling and extraction of petroleum to dirty polluters who want to destroy our beautiful countryside, pollute our water and put our health at risk. Legalising cannabis for personal use in Ireland would ensure that individuals who choose to use the substance are no longer branded as criminals, reducing the stigma and legal consequences currently faced by users. This shift would allow law enforcement to focus resources on more serious crimes, rather than prosecuting non-violent cannabis users. By establishing a regulated market, Ireland could take the profits out of the hands of criminal gangs, undermining the illegal trade and associated violence, while generating tax revenue and creating jobs within a legal framework. Ultimately, legalisation would protect users from criminalisation, promote public safety, and support economic growth through a transparent and controlled cannabis industry.
