  • Protect Ireland’s Dogs: End Puppy Farming and Overbreeding Now
    Dear Minister McConalogue, I am writing to you not as a politician or professional campaigner, but as an ordinary Irish citizen who can no longer stay quiet about the suffering of dogs in our country. Across Ireland, dogs are being overbred, neglected, and discarded by puppy farmers and irresponsible breeders. These animals live in silence, often behind closed doors, hidden away from the public eye. They are bred repeatedly with no regard for their physical or emotional wellbeing. When they are no longer profitable, many are dumped or destroyed. Ireland has gained an international reputation as one of the worst countries in Europe for puppy farming. That is something no one should feel proud of. We need stronger protection for our animals and real enforcement of animal welfare laws. The current legislation does not go far enough. As Minister, you have the power to be a voice for the voiceless. I am asking you to take meaningful steps to stop the cycle of cruelty by: • Introducing a strict cap on the number of breeding bitches allowed in any licensed premises • Making welfare training mandatory for all breeders and dog owners • Enforcing regular and unannounced inspections of breeding facilities • Increasing fines and legal consequences for both physical and emotional abuse of animals These are not radical demands. They are the basics of decency and compassion. Dogs do not get to choose the lives they are born into. We must choose better for them. Please take action to protect Ireland’s most vulnerable animals. We are ready to stand behind you if you lead the way. Thank you for taking the time to read this letter.     With HHC now made illegal in Ireland, it has proven that changes can happen quickly, so what is the excuse for cannabis law changes? We have had citizens assembly’s calling for changes, committee recommendations calling for change & the Taoiseach Micheál Martin promising decriminalisation in his party manifesto... Which has fallen on deaf ears.

  • Save Blackrock Summer festival
    We are calling on Louth County Council to continue supporting the long-standing tradition of the Blackrock Funfair, and to allow us equal access to public spaces—including in Carlingford. The funfair is fully compliant with all legal requirements and contributes positively to the local economy, culture, and family life. Despite this, pressure from a small number of individuals—who do not represent the wider community—now threatens our ability to operate in Blackrock and to secure a location in Carlingford. We have already reduced our stay in Blackrock from 14 days to 9 in good faith, to address local concerns. But further restrictions would be unfair, especially given that: • The car park we use is public property, available to all through official channels. • We pay full fees, follow all regulations, and meet all paperwork deadlines. • The event fosters community spirit and supports tourism in the area. • Funfairs are part of Irish cultural tradition, recognised by UNESCO as intangible heritage. This petition is not just about one event—it’s about protecting the right to trade, the right to fair treatment, and the importance of community traditions.
