Provision speed controls in Johnstown, Co Meath

Provision speed controls in Johnstown, Co Meath

Provision speed controls in Johnstown, Co Meath to save lives

Why is this important?

The metges road which runs through Johnstown in County Meath is a hazard to all residents. Well in excess of 50% of motor vehicles that use this road do so at a speed that is well in excess of the 50km/h limit. This dangerous practice is putting lives at risk. There have already been a number of very serious accidents on this road in recent years. Do we have to wait until someone is killed before something is done? The solution is simple. The council need to approve and construct speed ramps which match the height and width of the existing raised pedestrian crossings. I have approached the council about this before, but I believe they will only act if more people speak up. Can you help me get this message to the council?

Reasons for signing

  • Time to be proactive not reactive
  • As you all know traffic volumes have been increasing year by year in Johnstown as is the speed they travel along the Metges Road. More articulated vehicles and Buses are using the raid also traffic calming measures need to be introduced as a matter of urgency before a pedestrian is injured or killed by speeding traffic. Thanks Peter for creating this petition.

I really hope more people can support this. Speed controls are vital to save lives in Johnstown. No one wants to have to plan the funeral of their Father, Mother, Son, Daughter, Brother, Sister, Wife, Husband especially for something completely preventable such as a road traffic collision only minutes from their own doorstep. Please support before it is too late.
