No Amazon Cable in Owenahincha. No Data centres in West Cork
No Amazon Cable in Owenahincha
No data centres in West Cork
No data centres in West Cork
Why is this important?
The proposed Amazon undersea cable from Ocean city, Maryland to Owenahincha is part of the industrial and corporate infrastructure that is extracting the life out of the planet. In Ireland we can include in this machine all existing and proposed data centres across the island and the accompanying projects that they need including widespread potential mining projects, mega energy projects both "renewable" and fossil fuel based, the River Shannon water extraction Pipeline and more. If allowed to go ahead these projects will use up and poison water sources, destroy existing industry and economies, ravage biodiversity, lock us into a genocidal and militaristic economy and diminish the possibility of a better future or alternatives to this nightmare.
Several US based articles refer to a data centre in Ireland at the end of this cable.

Resisting this project in West Cork is to act in solidarity with communities across Ireland and the world who fight the same monster.
It is very late in the day but we must act as if it is not too late and fight for the future we want.
This petition invites politicians and the general public to hinder, delay and obstruct this project in whatever ways are available to you while supporting economic models for the area that regenerate community and ecology rather than taking from them.
To Amazon and its board of directors we say: "Even though you may have bought local support you are not wanted here. We see you for what you are and what you intend. We represent a different future and we will do it without you.
We are the Amazonians. We reclaim the word "Amazon" for Rivers and Life".
We invite supporters to attend a community dance on the beach at Long Strand, near Clonakilty at 2pm Saturday 7th Nov.
