More Secondary School places needed in Rush, Co. Dublin

Make more Secondary School places in Rush

Why is this important?

Several Children and parents were let down yesterday when they received their letters from the local Secondary School, over hundred on the waiting list.
The situation already looks grim for over hundred families and since Rush and Lusk have been dynamically expanding fears arose that the situation can only get worse in the coming years. Commuting is not a solution. Rush needs more Secondary School places.

Dear All,

As you all know there was a huge problem with secondary school places lately in our town. With the petition, the students protest and all the media attention St. Joseph's Secondary School is able to accept all students who were on the waiting list. But the work is far from done. There are 1000 new houses are being built in Rush, according to recent surveys using the current numbers of primary school students in the feeder schools the boom will be in 2022. St Joseph's Secondary School needs a new building!

A March is planned for the 27th of November, next Tuesday at 9:30 when the students from St. Joseph's Secondary School will march up from the school to the planned place of the new school on Palmer Road, by the GAA. They ask the parents of the current primary school students and all other sympathisers to join with their children if they can. This is something we have to resolve together as a community.

To express our anger at the lack of school places for local children, St Joseph's have organised for our Transition Year students to protest outside Dáil Éireann on Wednesday 24th October at 11.45 and would appreciate the support of our feeder schools.

Many thanks,

St Joseph's PA committee
