To: The Taoiseach Simon Harris TD, Minister for Finance Michael McGrath TD, and Minister of State Jack Chambers TD — you have the power to change Budget 2026 to support ordinary people through the cost-of-living crisis.
Change Ireland’s Budget 2026 — Support Ordinary People Through the Cost of Living Crisis

Ireland is in a cost-of-living crisis, yet Budget 2026 fails to deliver for the people who keep this country running — carers, low-income families, renters, pensioners, and workers barely getting by.
While the cost of food, fuel, and housing continues to rise, many of us are being told to “tighten our belts” while big business and developers benefit. This is not fair, and it’s not sustainable.
We, the undersigned, are calling on the Irish Government to amend Budget 2026 before it is signed into law.
We demand a fair, people-first budget that includes:
1. Increased supports for carers and low-income workers.
2. Real action on housing and rent affordability.
3. Expanded cost-of-living measures — including energy, transport, and food supports.
4. Protection for public services — health, education, and social care.
5. A tax system that’s fair to ordinary people, not just corporations and landlords.
The Budget isn’t final until the Finance Bill passes — and that means it can still be changed.
We are asking every TD and Senator to stand with the people they represent, not the few who can afford to ignore rising costs.
Change the Budget. Help ordinary people. Build a fair Ireland.

Why is this important?
Everyday people across Ireland are struggling to afford the basics — rent, food, childcare, heating, and transport.
Families are cutting back, carers are limited in how much they can work, and workers’ wages are being swallowed by rising costs.
Budget 2026 should be about fairness and dignity — not leaving people behind. Ordinary people are the backbone of this country, and we deserve a Budget that reflects that.
This isn’t about politics — it’s about survival, fairness, and respect for those doing their best to keep Ireland going.
If enough of us speak up together, we can show the Government that it’s not too late to change course and build a Budget that works for everyone.
